True but the Benetiz sacking and the Zidane appointment has been on the cards for the last few weeks. Doesn't make sense that they were supposedly in advanced talks to sell him a few days prior to the change.
I guess that depends when the decision to sack Benitez was made. I know Graham Hunter is saying that call was made a few weeks ago, but he is still adamant that Guardiola wants to manage United rather than City so I wouldn't take it as gospel.
If Real won yesterday, rather than conceding a late equaliser, I think it's plausible that Benitez would've kept his job for now. It seems unlikely to me that Perez would've given Isco any guarantees about Benitez's future.
