Isco

Re: Isco (Part 8 (weekend saga part 3))

I would not believe for a second we have missed out yet again due to not matching a fee.. doesn't sound right to me. If Isco goes to Madrid when the whole time he has been saying he is worries about playing time.. sounds fishy to me. Just cause his dad dreamed of playing for Madrid when he was a kid doesnt make it right for him to push his son to Madrid when rightfully this could hinder his development. Nice one dad... always looking out for number one hahaha ;) I am speculating clearly :P

Anyone seriously saying we are interested in Suarez can't be believed IMO. I just ciuld not imagine our club wanting him....I could see the Sheik stomaching Rooney before Suarez.

I can see Suarez given serious consideration
I can't.

What you have to realise is that, with Suarez, you have to completely ignore his footballing abilities and focus on his impact on City's reputation. You know, at some point, he'll do or say something unacceptable, and be hit with a lengthy ban. It's in his nature and he can't help himself. He's a racist, violent, foul mouthed footballer. City are not in a place where we can afford to be linked with someone like him. We are trying to attract commercial partners, sponsors and other global partners, they want to be associated with a successful club, who bring positive recognition to them, Suarez would bring negativity both on our partners and on our owners (and by association Abu Dhabi).

Look at how much damage Suarez has done to Liverpool's reputation, and they are a globally recognised club with a great deal of good will afforded to them. City are not there yet in terms of global recognition and opportunitites, we can't afford to hinder that with the antics of just one player.

Yep- I would love a player of his ability at City. But he just doesn't fit into the City model. We don't want bad press. We want to be the club that does everything properly. Can't see it at all, plus I believe him when he says he wants to get out of England.

I think it is now definitely time to put Madrid in their place. forget the peace pact, that only benefitted them because for the first time they aren't able just to control players and the market the corrupt way they have for years gone by! we get isco then its a huge huge statement!
We will have a valuation we have put on Isco, lets say it's £30m for arguments sake. We'll offer that much in one way or another, and we'll be willing to change the method by which Malaga get their £30m, installments, a bigger upfront payment, add-ons for achievements etc. However, if Real value him at £40m for example, and they are willing to pay that, then we won't be simply outbidding them to get the player. We'll move on and look at alternatives. This isn't Fantasy Football, or Football Manager, we're talking about extremely shrewd business men here. The days where we overpaid in terms of transfer fees and wages are gone, we don't need to do that now to attract the right calibre of player. We've established a reputation now as a side who can win major trophies, one which will be chanllenging annually for such trophies, and one which will be qualifying for Europe's top competitions. We can pay the right price, and hand out the right wages, on the right players. We won't get all our targets, but then no-one does, we need to stick to our guns and only pay what we believe is the right value.

Re: Isco (Part 8 (weekend saga part 3))

Malaga chairman says if there price is met Isco can go...to whoever he wants. If its not met they dont have to sell him. We just have to pay 30m euros and hes ours. Thats the problem. We had him for less before RM stepped in and now its a game of poker.
If we dont get him we will move on and get our other two targets in quickly.

Bit boring now this saga hate players that milk it in the press just pick a club
He is not milking anything in the press.

Most, if not all of these 'sagas' are worsened slightly by the press, and tenfold by people on these threads. He has consistently said he will decide after his holiday. Nothing concrete has come out since then other than a bit of conjecture. Not sure it is a saga. It's annoying, as we are impatient, and the Spanish press has made it worse, but actually, if we didn't go to extremes over every bit of news it would be much easier.

Yesterday was bizarre, one minute it was pure ecstasy as a few ITK's posted positive news. An hour later it was utter depression due to a story in the spanish media or a tweet.

I don't think this is anywhere near as much of a 'saga' as we are making it. And Isco certainly isn't milking it.

All that being said, I go through the same extremes of emotion as everyone else......!!
