Isco

I'd rather pay 30m for Fernandinho than Isco.

I'm not so sure about that. Players with Isco's quality don't come around very often. It's why Madrid are signing him.

Isco is good for his age no more, the thing thats exciting about him is his potential but theirs no guarantee any player will fullfill his potential. He wont play much for Madrid and the only reason he'd have gotten substantially more game time with us would have been down to his relationship with pelli.

.
It will be interesting to see if his likely small amount of playing time next year sets him back greatly (most likely outcome) or if he can somehow progress whilst admiring Ronaldo scoring.

Might be he thinks " add 2m and we get Reus"?
Christ. We aren't getting Reus. No amount of flapping in this thread compares to the "Let's just go after Reus!" nonsense.

let's get reus!

Look when he spends a year on their bench we will just sign him next summer. No biggie.
Sounds like you wish the boy a bad season? Also, do you think he would walk into our first team and play every game?

Not true, I don't wish a bad season on anyone (apart from those at the swamp).

I wouldn't say he would play every game at City, because he like the others will be rotated.

I do however believe he would get more first team football at City than at Madrid, unless they get rid of one or two in similar positions.

Have to disagree. Every indication points to it being players choice - even Malaga media, who despise Real Madrid, are playing up the Zidane thing saying he flew to Israel during the Euros to convince Isco. If it was about fee, I'm sure we'd be willing to pay £21million up front, wouldn't we?

I honestly think we didn't. The fact that Isco was waiting for a counter offer suggests that we are his first choice and wants to go to us first. I actually think that Txiki isn't that keen on Isco and only entered the chase because of Pellegrini. In January, his release clause was around 15-17M yet we didn't make a bid on him. By the looks of it, Isco prefered us and wanted us as his first choice but Zidane , whilst not changing the fact that he viewed us as his first choiced, merely lessened Isco's concerns. I think Txiki wasn't convinced by Isco and didn't want the club to pay the fee and therefore we didn't. It looks like we dropped the ball on this one.

If we don't think he is worth 30 mill then the ball wasn't dropped we made a choice, 30 million is a big gamble on potential if as you say Txiki isn't convinced.
Maybe he sees better uses for the money.

Well in that case I believe that it would be foolish on Txiki's part. We signed Fernandinho and Navas , while I am happy we signed them and not slagging them off, we have ZERO competition for either player yet we payed the big bucks. The Sevilla president himself said that he was surprised that we payed what we did for Navas. Why then have we payed that sort of money when we could have easily pushed the cost of the player down especially considering we have 2+ months of the Transfer window left and the player has no competition?

It looks increasingly like RM will beat us to Isco but not because of their superior reputation or Zidane etc... but because we won't match the RM fee! You wonder why we ever entered the race - we have zero chance of success if we won't match the RM fee. Are we deluded about our place in world football?

Seeing as City seem the only ones arsed about it you might not be far off. It's ridiculous,it really is. Can see us falling short again next season with no more key additions.

How can you say that Navas and Fernandinho aren't key additions. Both signings gives us things which we were missing last season. Pace, the ability to take on a full back on the wing, get to the by line and cut inside in Navas' case and the breaking up of play, counter attacking quickly and wide range of passing that Fernandinho will bring.

With what we have seen from Spain over the last few years it seems to be full of these types of player, with the contacts they must have it's not inconceivable that they could identify the next Isco at a fraction of the price, afterall who had heard of Isco 18 months ago , I know I hadn't.

So the medical Tuesday turned out to be reliable

Hes having it as we speak

Adi Mike piloted the plane, picked up Isco at San Antonio on the rope ladder then flew to Malaga so they could all have a rest with his family and they are now flying back to Manchester Airport then speedboating down the ship canal to the Bridgewater hospital.

If all things went well with the flight he will make the 4 oclock press conference where he will sit on Manuels right knee whilst Cavani sits on the other telling the slavering press that City are the biggest club in the World and that Madrid are Spains version of Stockport County.

Source?

We wanted to be seen as not paying silly money last year, look who that left us with.

You have to pay for class, if Madrid are willing to pay then i see no reason why we shouldn't.

I would much rather this be the players choice to join Real and not just because we wouldn't fork up a few extra million.

Surely we have money from Cavani transfer which is unlikely to happen!
