Somehow we have balance the books so every penny counts, sure hard decisions have to be made

But missing out on Isco was not a hard decision it was a bad decision.

So every time a greedy agent or relative see's us as an easy meal ticket, and decides to exploit us,we should just bend over and accept it?

No but you pick and choose the ones that will make a real difference. Isco was that decision. We fluffed it.

I disagree.

We have to stick to a valuation that fits our finances and also make a stance by adhering to our principles.

We have let it be known that although we are in a privileged position we will not be taken for a ride,Isco was not the first deal to collapse because of mercernary demands and he wont be the last thankfully.

How long before this thread become a "Spanish duo" hating fest, as folk decide someone needs to be blamed, hung, drawn and quartered?

He chose Real Madrid ffs, we lost out to the biggest club side in the world and so far, the lad has justified his own decision.

But from all reports the Isco deal with us was all but done. The OP has asked a valid question. Discuss:

It most possibly was until Madrid entered the fray and boom, his head was turned and we lost out.

You win some, you lose some, mush like we did with Hazard and whatever the reason is be it financial or the player wants to go somewhere else, we move on.

Dont get me wrong, pissed at missing a player like this but what can we do?

We don't know the ins and outs of the deal, maybe the sticking point was his dad's demands, maybe it wasn't. It's equally as likely that the allure of playing for Real Madrid swung the deal at the last minute, and if so there's nothing we can do about that.

Isco looks like the real deal, but should we be a club that is willing to be dictated to be greedy agents, even in situations when the player is of top quality? Personally I think at this stage of City's development we need to be financially prudent, as well as reputationally aware, we need to watch the bottom line and we need to get the impression out there that we won't be paying whatever people ask just because we can afford to.
