Good post PB. Whilst much of what Israel does is questionable to say the least, I find it difficult to completely condemn them when you have groups like Hamas who openly admit that their aim is to wipe Israel off the face of the map.

That's another one of these myths that seems to have come up.

Hamas never said anything of the sort.

This is from the official UN report on the Hamas Constitution...

Article 28 widens the circle of hate to include all Jews: “Israel, Judaism and Jews challenge Islam and the Muslim people: ‘May the cowards never sleep.’” The Charter in its preface quotes Hassan al-Banna, founder of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, as saying: “Israel will exist and continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.”

I suppose the counter argument will be that al-Banna is not actually a member of Hamas. However, the fact that Hamas chose to quote him in their charter surely says that they hold the same views.

Yeah but Article 31 also says that Jews, Christians and Muslims can live side by side in safety and security under the aegis of Islam. Essentially this is no different from Israel saying that Arab Muslims can live within a Jewish state.
