Istanbul CL Final chaos | City Matters statement (p 133)

Have City commented on any of this though? That's an issue that needs addressing mate.
There has to be a process and system for collecting evidence and engaging with relevant stakeholders that is going to take longer than a few days. It's like when people on here get annoyed at the club for not "going on the attack" against journalists or whatever, it's not how it works and it's not a sensible approach. It might feel nice for the club's official comms to send out a tweet like "fucking disgrace what our fans went through, we demand a refund and compo" but it's just not how these things work.

The scousers shot out the blocks protecting their fans, our lot have gone on bloody holiday.

It's not about compo it's about recognition.

It's a totally different scenario. Kick-off was delayed, with UEFA knowing there was going to be a mess getting in, and they blamed Liverpool fans.

I think throwing in matchday experience gripes at City in with the shitshow that was Istanbul is unfair and unproductive. Istanbul showed me how good we have it in Manchester, to be honest. I don't mind queuing for a shuttle bus, the problem is there wasn't a queue or discernable system. Istanbul was borderline criminal, and actively discriminating to any fan with seen or unseen disabilities, pregnant women, and older or younger fans. This is 100% on UEFA rather than City.

It is jointly on UEFA and Turkey. Everybody seems to be letting the Turks off for this and purely blaming UEFA but any other nation would be embarrassed at organising an event that was run like that.

Yes, I'd agree with that. The feuding local/national transport systems that don't connect, the lack of roads in and out of the stadium, and the widespread organized crime taxis should automatically exclude a stadium from hosting, especially given how far out of the city the stadium is. It's very simply a stadium that doesn't have the infrastructure to support sold out events, and presumably one of the reasons why it's an Olympic stadium with no Olympics to its name. Deep down, UEFA knew all this which is why they wanted us there 6 hours early.

Responsibility for the actions of Turkey is firmly with UEFA. Period.
