Istanbul CL Final chaos | City Matters statement (p 133)

What reason was given for not allowing water on the shuttles? I mean, beer, cans of sticky coke … maybe.. but such a basic human right as water???

Istanbul sounded corrupt as fuck in general. From bar man making prices up to the total thievery at the stadium. Because thats what it is. Selling bottles of water for ridiculous amounts isnt corruption or profiteering, its just robbery, thievery. Istanbul should never host a major footballing event again. But they will. And we know why …. £££€€€

Sounds like a lot of the stewards also let power go to their heads. But in fairness that happens all over the world.

I hd this scenario at wembley.
My son is a FUSSY eater. So i took a few butties wrapped in tin foil.
When bags were searched i was told no tin foil and to take butties out of tim foil, hmm ok i can see why not so took them out.
Then told off this prick no food either!!!
He told my 7 year old he had to eat them now. Son on verge of tears with the fuss being made.
Said steward was told to fuck right off and off we marched with the silly **** shouting after us.

Football fans are treated like utter dross. We either put up or shut up. Or like the charity shield game, fuck it off
I was a few feet away from being ejected from the stadium for wearing my "racist" banana shirt... Thank goodness a British Copper saved my bacon...

The whole ‘organisation’ was appalling. But the stoicism of the City fans under the circumstances was exemplary.
whilst jockeying for car park exit positions, having been stationary for two hours, hats off to the ‘special needs’ bus next to ours where they never let up in their mad celebrations- kept my spirits up! Best bit was their bus doing a ‘poznan’ when they overtook us - brilliant………
Sounds like our bus

Haha the Turkish rainbow brigade nearly had you there. Won't be long until gen Z City stewards won't let you into the Etihad wearing the same thing.

Is this true about the pots of water supposed to be free?
If so I have a credit card receipt for 20Euro for the 8 pots I bought.
Who at EUFA do I send my refund request to?
Bottles of water were supposed to be reasonably priced.

Those that needed water - the small pots - were supposed to be available to those who needed them. At the largest bar, the staff were giving those pots to whomever asked for them at no cost. that's how it should have been with all the concessions.

Please everyone who's submitted here.

If you email your experiences to alex.howell@citymatters.co.uk he is collating them to submit to the club and will ask them to take up the matter formally with UEFA.

It's all well and good fuming on here but if you don't try to tell the club exactly what happened in writing they can't do anything about it.

Mods can we get a stick at the start of the thread for that info? So many people posting their experiences here but it's not an official channel.
emailed Alex.

Blues, get your experiences in writing to Alex, it seems to be the only official channel that might just work and get some action.

I was really lucky getting back to Taksim after the game. I left the Stadium just after City lifted the Cup but was sent the wrong way looking for the return buses. Eventually getting back to the car park and seeing the chaos and massive queues I wondered around trying to hitch a lift. Spotting 2 City fans trying to persuade a bus driver to let them on the bus driver pointed to the bus behind him. When we looked he had opened his door to let about 12 of us on. Arrived at Taksim at 3am and partied till the bars closed. As I said, lucky I didn't end up having to walk back.

Nice one Noel, really enjoyed the couple of hours in there, Keith is a trouper, possibly the oldest fan to travel to Istanbul? :-)
Not quite, I was running late and decided to use the Metro, while walking towards the stop I bumped into 2 ladies who were a bit lost, told them to stick with me, even though I had no idea where I was going. One of them was 70s, the other 86 and with a walking stick, what intrepid ladies they were. The younger of the 2 became the only person I've ever met who was in Vienna for ECWC Final, very impressive.
Long story but, after 5 different Metros, no seats available on any of them, we did get to the ground ok.
Another long story but somehow they found me again after the game and it was 5am when I eventually delivered them to their hotel in Taksim. That first pint after I left them tasted like nectar but I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Yes we were ripped off by the stadium, bent police collecting fag packets in a carrier bag, the catering, the taxi drivers et al but it was still the best trip I've ever been on.
