"There's no guarantees in football, but the one thing we guarantee here.......".
Utter buffoon.
Utter buffoon.
Apart from that he was ok!!!Year after year trying to get rid of that ****. Put fuck all money into the club (£200k?) and wrecked us for decades. A thoroughly dislikable, arrogant, useless ****
Or just misunderstood!!Apart from that he was ok!!!
The impression was that the kit shop guy owned the copyright so the badge was changed under Lee when we moved from Umbro to Kappa in 1997. The kit shop guy denied he held the copyright according to popular hearsay several years later.I thought it was Swales that sold it to the guy running the souvenir shop and thats why Franny Lee came up with the new Eagle Badge ?
hope the link works…
No lolApart from that he was ok!!!
Talk is cheap. When that video was made City were one the best supported, biggest, most successful and wealthiest clubs in England.
Within a few years he had blown all that and ruined any chance of success for a generation.
Eddie Phillips who owned the souvenir shop paid the club a set fee each season to run the shop and beyond that outlay the rest was his.Yet he wants to own everything with the City crest/badge? Seems that an awful lot of money never came into the club for many years

Franny Lee came in and couldn't believe that the club received so little for club merchandise
As @petrusha said, Swales’ lackeys, the enabling sycophant wankers like Niven, Rose, Boler, Halford etc should also have been called to account long before now
A bunch of small time chisellers, nobodies and cowardly, nodding dogs.
They are every bit as much to blame as Swales. Wankers one and all, to a man.
Later came arseholes like Freddie Pye and Tudor Thomas. Parasites who sought some weird form of reflected glory
The fact they had combovers and Mr Whippy hairdos even worse than the tonsorial nonsense of their patron and hero says it all.
Our boardroom looked like a Vic& Bob spoof, complete with comedy wigs
Yep he undeservedly became considered a City treasure in later years but he was basically Swales’ consiglieri through it allAgreed all were complicit. Bernard really should have written a book to be published after his death, that would be some read. He became a sort of cult figure at City but most of us will remember him presiding over a shambles of a ticket office.

Said this before and agree (about the book and the faux Mr Manchester tag) - however, he'd have been implicating himself with knowledge of gate fiddling and and any other fraud suspected of going on.Agreed all were complicit. Halford after retirement was still Manchester County FA's rep on the FA Committee and all the trappings that went along with it so no chance of him losing that gig for a book - so his secrets went with him to the grave
I was 32 and was snivelling all the way home, I hate that day I was grinding my teeth through the minutes silence!!I was 8 and went home and cried. Couldnt believe it. I thought we were the best team in the world
