It’s hot

Weatheronline.co.uk is my go to site for weather as usually reliable.
Manchester forecast is 37C Monday and 40C Tuesday but then 18C on Wednesday.
WTF?

I’d be surprised if Manchester gets anywhere near 40C. I think the record for Manchester is somewhere around 34C so that will be a huge uplift - most temp records anywhere in the world tend to be just 1C-2C above the previous record. The UK record is just shy of 39C so 40C is certainly possible somewhere next week.

I would add though that a few sources have forecast Manchester to be almost as high or even higher than London on Tuesday. This morning my Yahoo app had Manchester at 38C and London at 37C for Tuesday but that has now been revised to 36C and 36C respectively, and they now have London at 38C on Monday.

The record temperature in Manchester currently stands at 34c, set in 1990. We will almost certainly see this smashed by at least 4c, possibly more. What’s alarming with the weather next week is how large scale it is, every town and City from Preston south will set new records for sure. Yorkshire/Lincolnshire is likely to see the highest temperatures, somewhere around Grantham/Lincoln/Doncaster will see 39-41c, eclipsing the UK record of 38.7c set in Cambridge.

It’s going to be a hot one!

The Met Office currently has Manchester down for 32° on Monday and 34° on Tuesday

I see the NHS have plenty of time to text everybody with helpful advice like “don’t sit in the sun” and “drink plenty of water” but they haven’t got time to see anybody.

Absolutely useless.
