It’s hot

Monday will be about 31°C and Tuesday about 33°C, in Manchester.

Scorching, probably uncomfortably hot if you’re working, but not ridiculous to the point of panic.

Just keep hydrated (drink at least 3L of water!) and have a cold shower a few times a day or keep wetting towels with cold water and putting them over your back, and you’ll be fine.

Oh and don’t be an idiot and sit in the Sun all day!
Yeah, tv news yesterday were telling us 'people are gonna die'! They'd probably die anyway but because they die in a heat wave it's the 'eat wot did it!

I see the NHS have plenty of time to text everybody with helpful advice like “don’t sit in the sun” and “drink plenty of water” but they haven’t got time to see anybody.

Absolutely useless.

Do you really think they have employed thousands of people to send individual text messages, or do you think it’s possible that a computer has sent en masse millions instead.

What a ridiculous comparison

Of course it is a ridiculous comparison, - it was in jest, but my point still stands.

Why waste ANY time or ANY computing power to state the obvious?

To me, it tells me that an organisation is willing to do things that are easy (and in this case, utterly pointless) but can't even do the basics of dealing with patients on a day-to-day basis.

Come on, let's be fair in these heated times. The people who send text messages from the NHS have probably spent six months learning the alphabet. I wouldn't want any of 'em 'seeing' me if I came down with sunstroke!

Hey, someone has to press the 'go' button on the keyboard, or is that done by another computer? Anyway, whose had one of those messages? Mine's got lost in the ether!
