we are skipping the middle man tbf, how often do we see a player go to a brighton or a sporting for not much money and then someone else buy them for a 100m a year later and everybody goes well why didnt we just buy them before brighton etc did and thats what we are doing

Yeah I get that but we have no guarantees that these lads will be that level bar possibly Marmoush,it is a risk and especially when we want to be challenging for trophies and not make up the numbers..

Given how embarrassed we were in Lisbon in November, that’s less of a concern for me. Each of the signings so far this window has cost more than Sporting has ever spent on a player; Viana’s simply picking in better vineyards now, so hopefully he can create an even better vintage.

If we cannot offer Champions League next season, there might be fewer players on which to ‘splash’. We might learn from our reinforcement of the defence that we need two youthful additions rather than a marquee signing.

I'd expect KDB and Gundo to leave in the summer, and perhaps even Bernardo, so I think he'll get good minutes next season.

He should be well known with players from the Portoguese league. Alan Varela (DM), Nico Gonzalez (CM/DM/AM) and Dario Essugo (DM) all have quite reasonable release clauses which means we wouldn’t have to pay a January premium either. I think we will sign a midfielder, it’s just the club keeping their cards very close to the chest. The only thing the press seems to know is that Douglas Luiz on a loan is the last resort signing

Varela might be a shout as hes been dropped, doubtful the other two move though (dammit Nico!)
