I still think we need one big transfer this window? Maybe thats the DM/CM position but i know the players likely to come in and young and hungry but not exactly top/world level currently?
Can Luiz play DM or is he more of an attacking midfielder?

Still need a top class DM in the 22-27 age range so teams don’t keep cutting through our ponderous midfield. Certainly could be a baptism of fire for a young centre back who’s not played in the PL before.
I still think Luiz can do that job for us.
It will be virtually impossible to sign a top class DM in this window with Rodri’s return pending hopefully before the end of the season.
If we can get Luiz on loan it would be ideal. He was excellent at Villa.

Wouldn’t we be ok with Luiz as the DM

Nothing is impossible for this club. We have shown that many times over the past decade.

From what you heard Luiz just can't get fully fit and doenst look sharp, doenst really sound like someone who will hit the ground running which is what we'd need

Clearly a good player, if not "City level" but we aren't even at "City Level" which is the problem

Wish we were a tad more ambitious and went for Zubimendi or Nico Gonzales etc. But Luiz knowing the league and being a bit cheaper probably isn't a bad thing, especially for a winter move

Kinda wild that Luiz is only 26, seems to be around for ages

IIRC, Luiz was only 18 when we first got Jim.

Exactly, endo wasn't exactly liverpool level but he came in and did a job and then they went and got the correct players and now endo is a role player

I still don't understand why signing a pure 6 would be a problem for that player when rodri comes back. Rodri can play next to that player or as a slightly more advanced 8, like gundogan in the treble season or David Silva in 17-18.

We play 60 games a season. Any 6 at a team not currently in a European competition would surely snap your hand off to go straight into city's 11 this season and for 40 games a season playing in a midfield 3 with rodri next season.

Remember when we had David Silva and kdb and we brought in gundogan? Was gundogan worried about getting in with those two ahead of him? Bringing in Mahrez when we had sane, sterling, and Bernardo? We used to stack positions all the time.

Imagine playing both rodri and new 6 and when we are chasing a game we push rodri forward like we would do to yaya under mancini.

Every player in our squad gets rotated except a few, and after this season it proves we clearly should have been rotating them to avoid burn out. Bringing in a top quality 6 shouldn't be a problem.

Personally not a fan of Douglas Luiz at all, I was hoping this season Nunes would have turned a corner but he hasn't, The signings of Kalvin Phillips and Matheus Nunes have turned out to be really bad, This guy is next in line...

Hopefully he proves me wrong if he does join us.
unlike the others he knows the system already which should mean he can slot right in.

We did rate him and wanted to keep him but got done over on the work permit at the time so there was belief in his ability, bit surprised how it has gone for him in Italy but he did well at Villa.

As a few have mentioned I see him more as the new Kovacic, he won't be the main man but will be a good backup option that fits better than Nunes \ Phillips

nah, not havin 'he knows the system' angle coz he was he on preseason for a month 5 years ago.

I still prefer him so far though from the options of whats here or no-one

It will be in January.
Can’t forget the 115 hanging over us.
It may still be a factor particularly for the top players who are already more or less guaranteed CL football

There's a lot of very, very bitter comments on the City transfer article in the Daily Mail. Mostly from the Red Shirt Cartel Fans. But there are lots of City fans piling on and winding them up. City transfer piss boiling has started. :-)

if we can just get a DM to go with Khusanov and Marmoush that will be a decent window imo. id take Luiz on loan for the remainder of the season.
