It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

This would be a huge mistake letting him go - I still can’t understand why he hasn’t had more game time this season especially with our struggles - I think he could be a City legend given the chance, he looks a wonderful footballer and seems to have time and create space and never looks hurried or unsure of what to do and his finishing is instinctive.

I can't see anything in those links. If they even Are 'links' to begin with.

Can't see Txiki letting him go in his last few months here, he would leave that for the next guy. Can't see Pep being ok with him going given our squad and injury issues and the fact he frees up zero space for any incomings anyway. And I can't see the player pushing for it at this point in the season, he is more likely to get minutes here now having worked for it than joining a team mid season.

A discussion for the summer, at which point the landscape may look completely different.

We do seem to be struggling with the DM signing dont we?
We will see, but backup to Rodri is not an easy role.
I would prefer to see an academy player given the chance. Many feel that would be too much of a drop-off, but what top-drawer player will come in to take the chance to 'compete' with Rodri?
I would like to see someone like Nico given the chance, with gradually increasing minutes. His flexibility means that he could also play alongside Rodri, further forward, or as an inverted fullback.

Heads completely gone with the home situation.

He needs to get that right and then his overall performance will improve.
Completely agree. Nobody can perform at work if your home life is like an episode of Eastenders. He’s an idiot but at least he fessed up and owned the situation. Unfortunately he’s surrounded by people who are determined to play out the aftermath in all of the shit publications of the day.

A move abroad is his only chance of taking the heat out. No pun intended. Fucking Heat magazine. I must complain to the news agent that mine hasn’t been delivered.

It`s a lot to throw a young lad into though mate? Maybe Luiz in on loan and then look again in the summer?

Compared to how our midfield have been coping recently I’d be really pleased to see Nico given a start in that role. It might not work, but it could be a pleasant surprise.

It really could. It also would give another option when Rodri is back. It is pretty clear that Nico is a talented player. And now, we would be talking about him playing as more and more players return from injury, not coming into a severely depleted unit.

It is. That's why I suggest gradually increasing minutes in the role.
We always think that we try someone and it has to be 90 minutes in that specific role.
I wouldn't do that. But alongside a Luiz, yes. Alongside Gundo, or Kev, yes.
Bring him on for 30m. Start him alongside experience.

I still think we need a top drawer in there personally as Rodri will need more rest as he comes back from his injury and may come back not quite the same?

I think all the Luiz suggestions so far, if anything tonthem, have been on the premise that it would be a loan with an obligation to buy. So doesn't then leave much to see in the summer, we would be commiting to bringing the player in long term.

Not that I'd have any issue with that, but it is not really the 'fix now solve later' loan that has been assumed, at least not how the rumours are framed.

Thats true as well mate. The Ederson transfer that Jack Gaughan mentioned still hasnt been ruled out yet though as i`m pinning hopes on that stil!

I honestly don't know enough about him. Is he really better than Luiz as a long term player to bring in?

If we can persuade zubimendi to come all we have to do is send the buyout money to the Spanish league then it be done within a day..

Am still hoping..

We have a aging midfield if your either McAtee or Nico you would stick around. KDB , Gundogan and Koavic are getting on be lucky if 1 or 2 of these are with us next season. Silva I think might move along with Jack Grealish so potentially 5 squad places for these lads if they are good enough they will get game time. Also they can see with the club that they are giving some graduates chances in first team be it Foden and Rico and more than likely Bobb until his injury 2 are now regulars. You would back yourself more now than when Cole Palmer was around to break into the team and get regular ge time.

I think if he could have been convinced to come, then that would have been well under way by now. I'd give up that hope mate.
