I'm not sure we'll even sign one this window tbh. Such a demanding role under Pep needs a specific type. I think we may have to wait until summer for the exact right player, whoever that is.

I still have hopes its Zubimendi or Ederson as our top tier journos like Gaughan and Blackburn havent yet ruled them out?

Worst thing they did was not buy one last summer.
I’m starting to think Akanji or Stones at CDM is becoming a more viable option for the club. I think they’d both get injured very quickly personally.
 
So,if Reis, Marmosh, Khusonov and Echeverri, come in and Walker leaves. Only 3 can gointo the C/L squad and do we have room for anyone else in the Pl squad without somebody else leaving?
 
What are peoples’ thoughts on this quote? Makes it seem like Pep isn’t too keen on signing these really young centre backs, he wants players with more experience that can contribute immediately. But it’s the club that is going for the extreme youth.

That makes me think then that Marmoush and a DM will be older with more experience.

It's a problem no doubt. I think the one we eventually sign will probably be quite versatile. Someone who can play instead of Rodri and also at the same time.

Neither of Reis, Khusanov or Echeverri will have any immediate impact on the PL squad since u21 players doesn't need to be registered.

I think it's quite likely City will look for a DM on loan to cover the short term absence of Rodri. I think it would be wasteful and very hard to sign a 3rd DM when City have Rodri, Kovacic and O'Reilly on the books.

I wish Pep would trust more in Mcatee and O'Reilly. They appear ready to me. I would have played them instead of de Bruyne and Gundogan.

Correct only 3 of the four you mention can go into the CL squad. If Walker leaves all 4 can go into CL squad. This assumes Rodri is not included in CL squad. In PL under 21’s can play still.

So we'll just need to decide which 3 go into the CL squad. Suppose Marmoush, a DM if we get one and one of the centre backs.

Only 3 changes maximum permitted to the CL squad, PL unlimited U21s.
Here are the relevant extracts from the UEFA Champions League regulations:
46.01: As of the round of 16, a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registration must be completed by 3 February 2025 (24.00CET) at the latest. This deadline cannot be extended.
46.02: Any or all of the players from the above quota of three may have been fielded for another club in the qualifying phase, play-offs or group stage of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League or UEFA Europa Conference League.
