It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

Ornstein said football is changing. Omar marmoush is seen as too old by other top clubs in the league. The clubs in the league according to Ornstein want young players with high potential under 23 as they have a higher sell on probability. So these Cbs we are signing will become the norm. Most probably players we sign will be u23 most of the time
I see the idea but i dont understand who we are selling too? we are one of the richest, most revenue generating clubs in world football and if we are buying players with the idea of big sell on value who are we supposed to sell em too? Saudi?

That’s what we need.
He really isn’t. He has one quality we need (duel-winning), but nothing else. They also need to be good on the ball and most crucially, they need to eat up the ground. They need to have energy, the legs to get up and down, so as to compliment Rodri and balance out his weaknesses. A player like De Jong has none of that, he only has the ability to compete for challenges and nothing else. Very limited player.

Stick a quality central midfielder and Rodri in yesterday's team and we're challenging for the league next year.

Add in Marmoush for an aging KDB and Dias/ Stones for Nunes and we're winning the league.
Highly doubtful with ageing players being a year older, some players not up to it, other players maybe lost their hunger etc. Big overhaul required and it's plainly obvious.

The aging players in yesterday's team would be replaced by the '1 or 2' I described.

Why do you think we need a big overhaul?

Are Foden and Haaland not superb players?

Isn't Savio looking like an excellent talent?

Are Dias, Ake, Akanji and Gvardiol not excellent defenders with several years left in them?

We have one issue. It's fucking massive, but it's one issue.

Exactly. Half the squad is fucked physically and mentally. How is more games going to help, especially if we end up being battered?

A lot of that team last night had a break at the weekend, why are they fucked physically and mentally? If they are, sub them! We've got loads of options available in attacking areas now, Pep needs to stop picking them if they can't put the effort in. A major part of our success, alongside the talent of the players and tactics from the manager, was the workrate which was always superb. That's gone out the window and whilst injuries/fatigue were a valid excuse a month or so ago they don't remain one now.

Compare the likes of Foden, Savinho and De Bruyne to the minutes played by Salah or some of those Brentford players.

We've got some talented youngsters who would run their socks off if picked. Foden was full of energy when it came to getting his 2nd goal, but in the first half he barely got into a jog when it came to tracking back and defending. Pep would have dragged him off at HT in previous seasons.

1 or 2? It looks like we're potentially signing 3 this window so do you disapprove of this? Wait until the summer window arrives and people depart as well. 1 or 2, give it a rest.

If youre referring to the loss of Rodri. Nope not buying it and sick of it as an excuse. Granted its a big factor. Are we admitting were a one man team so? Theres far more issues than just DM issue

I like it if Phil actually got a tackle in.

Getting the correct midfield signing is the tricky part. Ederson could easily turn out as an expensive version of Fernando. That signing has to be similar quality of the currently injured Rodri (and he took time to fully acclimatise)

Ortega

Akanji, Dias, Ake, Gvardiol

Rodri, new CM

Foden, KDB/ Marmoush, Savio

Haaland

That's 1 or 2.

I'm referring to the middle of the park generally as the big issue.

We haven't replaced Gundo and we've lost Rodri to injury. In combination, that is killing us.
