I know what you mean, but in a Pep system some "midfielders" might be more useful at FB. Context matters.

I know some, especially fans of our rivals, think Pep is acting genius trying to impress people with strange ideas. They want defenders to defend, attackers to attack. But to reach the top one must swim against the current and try strange things. Some work, some don't. Contrary to some opinions, Pep is not dogmatic. He adheres to general principles, but experiments a lot within the space of possibilities constrained by them.

Exactly. We look at attributes, not positional history. Look at Gvardiol. We didn’t sign him because he had mostly played in central defence, we signed him because of the utterly unprecedented skill set he has that can be utilized a ton of different ways

2 big name midfielders in the Summer and we will grit out the rest of this season.

I do have the sense City have got a couple of big names lined up but that they won’t come mid-season and it’s pretty obvious the area they will be in.

I have no problem with that but at the same time it's a huge risk, we could be potentially writing off the rest of the season & the 2 big midfielders still might not signing.

More specifically centre midfield. I think there will a Gundo replacement (I really think we have a shot at Wirtz who is more like KDB) and a DM in case Rodri is ever out again. No idea who we will go for on that one.

I also don’t think there will be a mass sell as some posters predict
