It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

FWIW, Pep admitted he was given the opportunity to commence our rebuild last summer but declined as he wanted one last hurrah with his all conquering squad. It's not all Txiki's fault.

We're not Real Madrid where managers are told which players they're getting, so to get on coaching them. Pep identifies his needs, Txiki presents well research options. Pep has the final say on all transfers.

If anything, what we're seeing now is a collective fuck up from all involved in our squad planning, & realistically this starts & stops with Pep Guardiola. This is why I wonder if Berrada leaving for the Rags, uncertainty over Pep extending & Txiki announcing his departure in the coming summer, has made us take our eye off the ball.
Or they simply made a decision in the summer that's turned out to be wrong. It happens, we move on.

Remember you can only add 3 new players to the Champions League play-offs squad, Now from what people have been saying is Rodri wants to be back before the end of the season so do we add him, that leaves 2 more places and we have 3 new players already

I hope for a holding midfield player today but it's all gone quiet at the moment

we have 3 without Rodri. Walker left.

Surely it doesn’t need to be pointed out the downsides of signing Chilwell? Are you taking the piss, is it some kind of wind up?
I’ve fallen for this one big style.

Truth is we should have bought his guy a few seasons ago, when we was and still are crying out for an authordox left back.

Yes he has had injury problems, who hasn't with us, but he'd do a job for 6 months even now..................................

There is no point in adding him, we are almost certain to go out in the next round anyway

He should be sacked today. This whole transfer saga has been shocking. We knew last season we had Fook all back up for Rodri. He was injured months ago. Day 1 of this window back up should of been in.

This is shocking planning on any business level let alone one of the Richest clubs in the world at the top of their game
Top dummy spit

We can replace Walker plus 2 more.

It was as plain as day we needed world class cover for Rodri after winning the treble. Rodri was reported in the Mail as fearing for his health & physical wellbeing with the amount of games he was expected to play.

This is why we made a bid for Paqueta, but when that fell through, we inexplicably opted for the distinctly average Matheus Nunes. Pep barely played him during his first season, so with Kalvin out on loan, & Nunes not providing a solution, why didn't we act decisively then?

It's not like these issues only became a potential problem in the summer, but on a 50/50 toss of a coin, we decided we had enough & would be OK. The issues surrounding Rodri & our ageing squad have been there for all to see for nearly two years.

I'm sorry, but the blame for this monumental fuck up lies at the feet of our club. There was no wrong call about it. The evidence we'd end up where we are with a couple of key injuries was plainly obvious.

Dya remember us losing Rodders for three games due to suspension? That was 18 months ago. The warning signs were already there & the alarm bells were ringing, but City failed to react & put contingencies in place. That's the long & short of it.

That would be 4 changes. Think it is changes to squad, rather than additions.

So it would be replace walker plus 2 more, for the slots we didn't previously take up. Rodri czn stay as is. I think.
