I can understand it's hard to bring someone like Wirtz or Jamal in January, it's not plausible no matter how much you throw money at it.

If ederson was in goal yesterday, I'd say there is a good chance stones would have passed to him instead of akanji because he trusts ederson to not lose it.

Ederson is one of the best passers of the ball in the league. It's pretty insane how accurate and seamless it is for him. He doesn't even try and it's pinpoint at the players feet. For the style pep wants, this is vital.

He should be sacked today. This whole transfer saga has been shocking. We knew last season we had Fook all back up for Rodri. He was injured months ago. Day 1 of this window back up should of been in.

The coach has the same enigma as top world class players. I am mainly talking about midfield here.

There's a big pool of clubs that can sign the best young talent and some of them don't move anyway.

In the last 3 summers we've secured the best young striker in Europe and the best young defender.

I think there's only Madrid with a bigger hit rate than that.

Txiki made his bed and now we all have to lie in it. he had enough time all summer and deffo since November to find a target and get them. to think we are down to last 12 hours for it to happen is a joke.

watch us not getting any midfielder in and first Real game karma will get Kovacic or Bernardo or both injured for 2 months.

having said that he spent 100m on Nunes and Phillips. somehow we need to make sure nothing like that is never approved at board level ever again even if Txiki identifies that level of players for us

FWIW, Pep admitted he was given the opportunity to commence our rebuild last summer but declined as he wanted one last hurrah with his all conquering squad. It's not all Txiki's fault.

We're not Real Madrid where managers are told which players they're getting, so to get on coaching them. Pep identifies his needs, Txiki presents well research options. Pep has the final say on all transfers.

If anything, what we're seeing now is a collective fuck up from all involved in our squad planning, & realistically this starts & stops with Pep Guardiola. This is why I wonder if Berrada leaving for the Rags, uncertainty over Pep extending & Txiki announcing his departure in the coming summer, has made us take our eye off the ball.
