Agreed. We signed two centre backs (three if you include Bah) in January because the usual suspects are often injured. I'd expect next season we see Gvardiol complete his transition to CB full time and one or two of the experienced heads moved on. Wouldn't surprise me if Reis went on loan but Khusanov would be one of our four regular CB options.

Khusanov is our 3rd choice CB behind a partnership of Dias and Gvardiol.

With 2 new full backs coming in can see some players leaving.

Nunes for me is gone leaving the new RB to rotate with Lewis. Akanji can also play there if he stays.

Hopefully O’Reilly goes into midfield but is there to rotate with the new LB. Ake, like Akanji on the other side can play there if he stays.

Stones has 1 year left so tricky to move him with injuries but wouldn’t be surprised if we tried. Even if a loan.

Bah on loan again. Reis potentially but think he’ll stay tbh as having extra cover has been needed this season.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we went for Branthwaite if we managed to move some defenders.

I imagine there will be a few chages to the squad, but this may well become a consideration this summer.

But it is also not like the club to just fill slots for the sake of it, and if the academy players are likely to be used more, some of these slots may just end up going to them.

Think Grealish will leave,which would explain Gibbs White links, think we want to bring in an AM and at least 1 full back. Making room for those 3 would be the priority which means making room on the free list for 2 which might not be easy. Goalkeepers apart I could see that being all we do. I'd be happy with that though think it would do for this summer.

The way I see it you don't need any but your squad is reduced from 25 to 17 plus U21's.

Yes, plus in the CL, those HG slots are made up of 4 Association Trained and 4 Club Trained players, which needs to be factored in to squad management.

From memory it's under 21 on the 1st of January in the year the season starts

they'd just leave them empty in that case rather than move from the B List for no need really. .
