It’s raining coins, lighters, spit etc round three. FA Cup Round 4.

Not a single suggestion here as to how the club can allocate, safely, 7800 tickets to away fans. They have to be segregated, we have the means to do that only at the SS. So please send your suggestion instead of moaning. We have to give them that many tickets so we can’t ignore it or ‘ban’ them. You want to make a point?? Then don’t go. You think it is just about the money? Then don’t go, make your point with your feet. And I mean everyone.

There have been plenty of suggestions by me and others.

Screen grabs for the Chelsea game show minimum stewarding at the bottom of the tier.

In the picture I posted a steward was talking to a female Chelsea fan, whilst other Chelsea fans stood directly behind him were throwing beer onto City fans. The steward did f*ck all.

More stewards and police only arrived when the Chelsea fans began throwing more objects on to the City fans below.

I sit in EL3 so have had a good view on the SS goings on in the Liverpool & Chelsea games. For some reason the suits in the Directors Box mustn't have as good a view as me. Maybe it's a bit like Anfield - there's a blind spot at the Etihad which blocks the whole of the SS when sat in the centre of CB2. There cant be any other explanation for putting the health and welfare of thousands of City fans at risk.
I am also EL3. The LFC fans threw missiles the whole game with Chelsea it was a few incidents. I spoke to a friendly policeman at OT yesterday who worked the Liverpool match at our place.
He said LFC were the worst fans to police bar none; there were too many missile throwers to arrest in their seats so they had to try and do it later; the stewards were not good enough but there was a shortage of police available in GMP and the club would not pay for bigger numbers.
I have no reason not to believe him.

If I was a steward for instance and was told I would be working below the away fans I would be demanding PPE, hard hat etc.
If this request was refused I would contact the HSE.

There should be a minimum of netting installed or the lower tier should be closed until they can guarantee the safety
of the City fans.

The stewards do wear hard hats I have seen them. They look like a normal baseball cap but are made out of plastic. Called bump hats

Is it possible that the club are working up an argument for not giving that allocation to away fans on safety grounds? I don’t know how it works but do the club have to say at the start of the season how many they are giving and are they gathering evidence for future games to reduce that number? I don’t know, I am just asking.

This is from the FA site

”FA Cup rules allow for an away allocation of up to 15% of the home stadium.

"However this is subject to the local Safety Advisory Group (SAG) agreeing to that ticket allocation number.”

The away teams claim this (in our case 15% is around 7600). It is not a right but up to the local SAG (council, police, medics etc). Perhaps the SAG have said that it is OK for them to be up there and it is up to us to show that it is not safe? As I said, I don’t know just asking the questions.

I don’t understand why they can’t be given three tiers ie 113/4, 213/4 and 313/4

We will see what happens with Arsenal but the main issue here is the 2 clubs involved and weak stewarding/policing - loads of away games we are above home fans and we’re not raining piss and coins down on them.

The club will put forward their plans for the game , the away allocation seating, the number of stewards , Policing, number of medical staff etc and the Local safety group then pass it if they are happpy with it and deem it is ‘safe’, or they might say you need more Police , stewards etc . I am not sure how, after the Liverpool game, they can deem the plans ‘safe’, when to me people’s safety is being endangered by having objects flying at their head.

Exactly. For example, for donkey's years we've been in the top tier at St James' without anything like this happening. Ditto Stadium of Light when the Mackens were in the PL. If some clubs can't control their fans then the allocation should be cut. Simples. It's absolutely ridiculous that the safety of home fans should be put at risk. I'd put money on some of the Arse fans throwing things down a week on Friday - seems like they've been given an open invitation.

The way City are playing, I don’t think the Arsenal fans will be throwing anything as they’ll be celebrating a win.

That aside. Is away 6000 tickets in L3 not enough?

Why doesn’t the club approach the FA (and the other club) and ask for special ticket dispensation, explaining the on-going problems, and asking for the away ticket allocation to be reduced to 6000 tickets with no away fans in L2 above the City fans.

As I keep on f*cking repeating to the f*cking brain dead directors and decision makers at City, put up large netting at the front of L3 and L2.

All it takes are metal brackets placed into the bottom of the concrete walls, and tall poles with netting, placed into them, and stretched out along the length of the tiers. It won’t be expensive.

But instead they’ll throw £1000’s trying (in vain) to improve the match day experience, like laser shows, etc instead of making sure City fans are safe and protected on a match day, which is a much more important and better match day experience, is it not?!

One more small point. Not a f*cking word from the club about Liverpool or Chelsea fans throwing objects at City fans and what the club are doing about and have done about it. Everything at the club is done in total secrecy, and there’s not one bit of feedback to the fans. Sorry I forgot, the tie in with Liverpool football club and that disgusting email that was sent to City fans.
Well put, this message needs to get to the security bods at the club
