It could only happen to us.

The perceived wisdom is that Hughes' teams do better in the second half of the season but upto now the interim assessment can only be that the overall performance has been poor. Six games won out of twenty is pretty near relegation form. Setting the UEFA cup aside, and we nearly screwed that one too, there will have to be a substantial improvement if this season is to be regarded as Project MCFC fully on course.
 
You never know for sure how things are going to go. If we had lost to Portsmouth today then it is quite possible Hughes would have gone next week.
Instead we get what nobody expected, a postponed match.

Perhaps fate has a hand here. I can just imagine, this being City and all, that the extra rest and recovery time, and the extra time for new signings to come in, ends up in us winning our next few games. 'Hughes was only saved by the weather' is something that, for good or bad, I can just hear us saying for quite a while yet
