It could've been us

Red is more emotive to city because it's the colour of our rivals, and so would never happen, but that isn't my point.

He's welcome to stop supporting his club at any time. People do it all the time. I know plenty who stopped going to city when we moved stadium because they couldn't identify with city any more. It's his trumpeting of his decision as some sort of of political act, and his insinuations that premier league fans are mugs who are being taken for a ride that I object to. If he wants to go and watch a bunch of fatties lump the ball up a muddy pitch every week, whilst he bounces around with his arm in the air and chants "who are ya?" at half a dozen away fans, thats up to him. I'm quite happy to watch games like yesterday's, to get a thrill in my stomach when players like silva and yaya produce their magic, to be gripped by the intensity and excitement of two brilliant teams going head to head. And having tickets to wembley in my pocket, and a flight to Barcelona booked isn't to be sniffed it.

That's not to say I don't feel sympathy for fans who can't afford to watch premier league football. But as far as I read it, his objections are not financial. Each to their own, I'm sorry for what's happening at Cardiff, but stick your moralising about non league football up your arse.

Good post and I agree about the colour of the shirt being red not being quite so important to Cardiff as it would us.

"I can now muck about as I want" kind of sums it up. For some that's more important than the match.

There's something irritating about these clowns who feel the need to hang themselves up on the cross and loudly and publicly harrumph about the fact that they are going to support someone else because 'their' team has been taken from 'them"'. Plenty of people stop going to the match for plenty of reasons, and if you make that moment the time when your club is at its highest point for 60 years, that's your choice. Defecting to some lower division club and jumping on the moral high ground over it is attention seeking and pathetic. You don't just choose a club to love: It takes a lifetime.

The fact that the whole heritage of the club has been airbrushed away is pretty serious in my eyes to be fair. If City suddenly started playing in a colour that was totally alien I'd not be happy. I'm not saying I'd support another team but I can understand the feelings of the Cardiff fans.

Exactly this Blue Streak.
There really is some very some self opininated and self appointed know it all alls on this site who think they write on behalf of all football fans
when clearly they don't. I can genuinely understand the feelings of the Cardiff fans.

Not sure that I believe you completely on this one.

The logical extension of your emphasis on the quality of football on offer is that you should have been turning up at Anfield or even the Swamp when we were in Division One/Two.

You might enjoy the football more now but you turn up to watch City, whatever level they are playing at.

If some prick (Thaksin, Tan or whoever) turns up and shits all over the club (and I'm not talking about Swales esque, shit but just a in the traditional football manner of a shit chairman) and what it stands for then people would - and should - be all over it. I bet you were even on a few Swales out demos and he doesn't compare to someone like Tan.

Cardiff are one of the few clubs that had kept the same colours. They will be as important and as traditional to them as sky blue is to us or red and white is to the rags. Liverpool's 'legendary' all red was only introduced by Shankly in '65, they had white shorts before that and in their first ever season played in sky blue shirts.

Some relatively recent changes, (since the '60's) have involved people connected with City. Malcolm Allison (Palace), Mike Summerbee (Stockport), John Bond (Bournemouth) & Don Revie (Leeds Utd) all changed their club's colours, possibly in the hope that they could emulate the teams that the new kits paid homage to (Barcelona, Argentina, AC Milan & Real Madrid respectively). The funniest was Stockport, who of course asked to change strip near the end of a season at the outbreak of the Falklands war. Stockport have had more colours than Joseph's amazing technicolour dreamcoat.

Sky blue is important to me. There are not many teams that wear it and it's a huge part of the MCFC identity. Could I hack changing colours? Probably after ranting and raving that the club had lost it's soul. I've even played for a football team wearing red shirts and socks. Fortunately the shorts were black (better for washing). City in red though? Just like previous posters have said, that's associated with the other club round these parts and we're not going to do it, but no, I don't think I could cope with us wearing red.

The word/term Cnut is banded about a lot, but Vincent Tan really is a ****.

He's one justifiable reason for dipping out of supporting a team with him in charge.

I don't get owners like Tan and the other clown who owns Hull City,i really don't.Surely they must have a modicum of interest in football to buy a club and if they do they must know what supporting one means to the fans?

With no disrespect to Cardiff and Hull, hey we were in the same position ourselves for years,do they think fans turn up every week to watch world class players and them competing for the top trophies and to see them play in Europe every season?Of course not, they go for the banter, the crack,a sense of pride in their local club and identity and out of tradition and loyalty.Start messing with all that makes that identity strong and you are in trouble big time.

I think they should go but protest continually. Not one should wear a red shirt or buy one.Support the club but protest against the lunacy of the owner. If he leaves so what? They existed and survived without him and they will continue to do so when he is gone in some format or other.

Would you accept City adopting a red badge, red kit and red stadium? I wouldn't be satisfied and would probably stop going until the owner had gone, but I wouldn't support another team that's for sure.

We've changed badges, stadiums and kits multiple times in our history, we don't all abondon ship because of it.

He's just an attention seeking whore who want's everyone to feel for him. If he's so concerned with Tan he should do something about him instead of walking away.
