It was 10 years ago this year thatcher decended to Perdition

There is something very odd about rejoicing in a woman's death and not recognising that decades later the country has had ample opportunity to change direction if people saw fit to do so.
"If people saw fit to do so". Which people are they? You mean the electorate who are continually shafted by our politicians irrespective of party persuasion? Isn't it the politicians who are supposed to decide direction and good course? Also, how does what's happening today reflect on those who were stamped down into hardship in the 80's by her uncaring measures? Working class people in the North West of England were ravaged to the bones of their arse because of her policies. Whilst I didn't experience it firsthand, I heard enough stories from my mum and grandfather to know that for a few horrid years in the 80's they merely existed rather than lived.

I hope she's burning slowly.

This thread shows the Left up for what it is, just full of hate and bile. I've actually bought a Thatcher tshirt on Amazon just to piss them off. I was brought up in Govan, so the Left should be my territory, but I just can't bring myself to side with people with these views. They probably all have pronouns on their signature blocks in work. Woke fannies.

Bring on the abuse you fanny wipes.
Thatcher was a ****

No but blaming a politician for the direction of the country 30 years later is laughable. No individual has any power unless the people give it to them. And by the way Blair got in by being less Labour then previous examples.

Maybe the great British public should stop being victims and actually accept their own flaws

What if they gerrymander or use dirty tricks to get there?

I seem to recall that you were moaning about the UK not having proper democracy a few months back and now the people have all the power.

How does that make sense?

you misunderstand the left if you think pronouns and "wokeness" are something we take on board seriously, American clasification of liberalism as left seems to have become infested in UK thinking.

The fact the thread semi celebrates the old bags death kind of proves that, nowt Woke about being happy the witch carked it

Who votes for the 2 parties that historically want to keep FPTP?

Nice try but it fell apart quite quickly.

I didn't even have to mention the poll tax.

Well she obviously isn't so tough luck:-)

I never defended her as a person or politician but plenty voted for her on more than one occasion. I don't accept people don't have control over who runs the country.

Plenty of people have done well out of the tories and unfortunately they couldn't give a stuff about those that didn't.

A lot of shit has happened after Thatcher so I find it all rather sad that some seem to put most of our woes on her.

Maybe Starmer will undo all her evil deeds. I wouldn't hold my breath fella:-)

Left office over 30 years ago. Died 10 years ago. And yet she gets the kind of hatred a dictator gets. Is it because she was a women that riles people?

She won 3 general elections but perhaps all those who voted for her were stupid or nasty.

Perhaps those who despise her could suggest a practical alternative and point out who has been a good leader with an unblemished record. I can’t think of any.

I’m No Tory and she was flawed but at least she was a serious politician. And there are few of them around today.

Seriously flawed.

Or were you hoping for a list of other serious politicians? Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, or her friend Pinochet?

Not sure what the point is being made here. If it is an attempt to link Thatcher with leaders who were responsible for some of the most hideous acts in history I would be interested to see any evidence to support this idea.

Atlee, Wilson,Healey,Lawson,Owen,Castle, Major, Benn for example were also considered serious politicians. No one would link them with Hitler. But I suppose they were all without fault.
