None of them tortured people. I attended a session of the House of Lords case that ruled Pinochet could be extradited to face trial for crimes against humanity, but if you're not aware of Thatcher's friendship with him, I can excuse your not knowing the link.
 
Aware of the Pinochet relationship. Appears to be based on his help to Britain in the Falklands. Doesn’t make it right and doesn’t reflect well on her. But sadly history is littered with democratic leaders on the left and right mixing with dictators. But it’s this women singled out.

Anyway I’ll check out of this thread and return in 2024 to view the celebrations.

Thatcher's strong points. She was intelligent. Competent. Honest in her own way.

Her bad points. Typified the small-minded Englishness that has ruined this country. Inhumane and uncaring. A woman who loathed anything that was not strictly utilitarian - a philistine. Obsessed with the crazed form of political and economic theory espoused by Friedman and Hayek, a destructive insanity, greed and selfishness dressed up as a philosophy.

Small-minded Englishness? She'd have wanted the whole world to submit to her individualism and the callousness that went with it.

You didn't mention arrogant. She even presumed to tell Jesus what his parables meant.

So a limited intellect then?

Essentially she was an A-grade student good at rote learning and cramming but without any flexibility of thought or wider understanding, or any insight into her limitations.
