Now after seeing the Yaya Toure article from his agent my first reaction was one of disbelief. That swiftly turned to anger "Why the F would!!!!???!!!!" But as I calmed down and thought the scenario (which we do not know is true yet) over I came to a harsh but necessary conclusion. I love Manchester City this is a love born by me being birthed close to there but even when I left the city my family, friends, relatives all shared the mutual love of supporting the blues. I have since traveled the world and met various other blues who share a similiar love for whatever reason. Some have never been to Manchester but adopted the blues as their own and for that I welcome them.

Come take over and we won the lottery we had the big bucks and were going to make massive signings and in that instant I knew that we have moved from club just barely battling for premiership survival to an instant launch pad/money maker for players, agents and managers alike. When Robinho came and was followed by the Silvas, De Jongs,Balotellis, Agueros I lied to myself and said they all love the shirt as much as I did. I told myself they were coming because they wanted Manchester City to succeed as much as I did but as time went on I had to start accepting the truth.

The club I support is now one of the best employers in the world we have attracted top players, management and directors. They are here for themselves and their self development and hopefully that intermingles with the success of the club. True professionals even though self serving and selfish will always deliver what is required. That is what I now expect from the players the staff and from the board. I do not put my love or feelings onto them and expect them to cry blue, sleep blue, shit blue and bleed blue. For that reason I do not mind that players come to us to launch their career and try go to one of maybe 3/4 clubs bigger than us. I do not mind agents fabricating stories so they can inflate player wages or values. We have top tier board to handle that. THIS was always going to happen. We are big club now and because of that everything surrounding us and our players and the goings on will be big news. It all will not be positive, it will not always be what you want to hear. I do not want players kissing badges and proclaiming their love for the club every week. Just perform and do your jobs. Ill let the world class staff handle that and when the owners think they are not good enough they will replace them.

For these reasons I do not let myself get wound up by speculation or events out of my control. I love City no matter who plays for us, who manages us and who runs us. If a player comes here for 2 years and decides to move on? Good luck others will come and go. We will all still be here (except the Dzeko fan boys when he returns to Germany :) )

^^this^^ but only after ive calmed down a bit. Because we are Blue without even thinking, it takes rational thought to realise others are not like us.

Great post!!

I couldn't care less who wants play for us or who doesn't.
All I want to see, is that the players who are selected to play on the day, do there jobs to the best of their ability and give 100%.
If they're not willing to do this, then Fuck Off!!!
City will live on long after players, coaches and managers have gone.

Zaba, Vinny, Richards, Milner, Barry, Hart... I feel these players love the club, and love playing for the club. I believe Yaya loves the club too.. don't pay attention to what agents say.. It was only two weeks ago he expressed his desire to see out his career with us.

I am struggling to pick out many others who aren't just there for the £s though, but that will change with time. Once we cement ourselves as a top European side and start bringing through some really promising young lads from the academy, I think the mentality will naturally evolve.

Completely agree, these people are professionals and money is the main reason they ply their trade as most of us do.They are free to look for better contracts as they wish but City will always be bigger and it is up to management to manage them in Cities best interest and only Cities best interest

For the most part the players are whores, the agents are pimps, the chairmen/owners are the brothel owners and we are the johns......

If a player doesn't want to be at the club, why should the club want the player. We all respect what Yaya has done for City but if he isn't interested in being here, and his performances this season might back that up, then best we cut our losses and get the best deal we can for him just like we did with Mario.

Ultimately the deciding factor for top players will be success. All the top clubs pay big wages, Man U fans would like everyone to believe that their players turn out for nothing and go to bed in their footy shirts. Well it's not true, players want to know they will be challenging for titles and playing Champions League football. For us to carry on developing as a club and to continue to attract the best players we need to continue to improve, particularly in the Champions League, then the top players you already have all want to stay, it's self-perpetuating. If there is any truth in these stories then lets hope the club can sort Yaya's contract out because I for one wouldn't want to see him leave.
