And that alone sums up the madness of £90m for Bale. Of course it could be argued that with the quality of squad that Real have that only the very best could improve them, but as I've said before Bale is not much more than your typical British speed merchant.

He's done brilliantly over the last two season's, but a Messi, Ronaldo, Xavi or Iniesta he's not. Spuds must be creaming themselves.

Good post that. Just goes to show the ridiculousness of the deal. How many times has he been injured in recent years as well?

Have a look at Daniel Levy next time he's on tele, I bet you be looks about a stone lighter because he will have been laughing so much over this Summer he's probably lost loads of weight from the calories burnt through laughing so hard.

Why pursue a flawed argument when you have already recognised the flaw?

From Real Madrid's point of view it would be totally futile and ridiculous to spend £90m on 11 players who are not as good as their existing players.

Well i think Tevez , Thiago, Navas and Villa would surely count for something even in Real Madrid

A lot of people never take into consideration the whole transfer package.

Lets suppose Madrid purchase Bale for £85m on a 5 year deal at say £150,000 per wk then the total outlay is £124m.
To purchase eleven players for a total of £85m + wages of an average of £70,000 per wk is a total outlay of £287m.

I reckon Bale is going to be a massive FLOP

Yes Big style.

not a chance. great player.

Potentially a great,I wouldn't say that just yet,he's had a couple of good seasons and deserves the credit he's getting(from fans across the country, not just spuds fans)....do you honestly think he's in the 100 million bracket?...let's not forget,he won't get the freedom at Madrid that he has at spuds....obviously gonna go 1 of 2 ways....either be a massive hit or a massive flop...personally I think it will be the flop.....and that will be down to the price tag,not because he's shit....

Its a ridiculous price tag for a player of Bales ability.

Not on the same planet as Ronaldo or Messi and never will be.

2 years from now he will be moving back to the prem for less than 30 million IMO.
Time will tell.
