Its now easier to say goodbye to the old guard?

You support a football club that didn't win a single thing in a generation, 35 long years, and you've got a man there called Yaya Toure who scored 2 Wembley goals, one being against Utd and one the winner in an FA Cup final, to fire us to that first trophy in a generation.

That same player, during a tense game that was goalless, scored an absolute beauty from outside the box, with 20 mins left in the second to last game of a league winning season, before adding to it with just minutes left, to send us on our way to win our first league title for 44 years.

That same player then got an assist for the opening goal in a game that won us our first league title in 44 years.

That same player then scored what's probably the best strike at New Wembley since it's opening to equal the game, before we went on to win our first league cup since 1976.

He did that last one in a season where he pretty much spear headed our 2nd league winning campaign in 46 years by scoring over 20 goals from a deep central midfield position, in what's probably the greatest display of central midfield play in a season, in Premier League history...

... And you think his legacy is tarnished because his legs have now gone this past year?

That and you singling Zaba out, oh deary me. Wtf have some of our fans become.
His contribution to the cause will never be in doubt but he and his agent have let themselves down at times and his attitude could be called into question a lot . This is why the achievements you list are often forgotten about.

I think we need to avoid clinging onto players for the sake of it. There is no player I'd be happy to see the back of but if they aren't performing and don't want to be here then there is no reason to keep them here. Richards was one we all loved a couple of years back and some were suggesting putting him in as a striker just so there would be a reason to keep him here. There was obviously a reason we don't know about to explain why he barely played under two different managers and even at a national level.

I think Pep will bring a wind of change and he will get rid of both players that don't fit and also those who aren't going to commit to the cause and we have to prepared that it could be anyone.

I must admit lads, now almost a week has past, ive very much sobered up and thought about it a lot, I regret making this silly thread. I know what I meant when writing it, but I feel I didn't get my point across :(. FFS I said things about Zaba!! I must have been off my head!!!!

Surely someone hacked your account, whilst you was pissed.

Its time for the break up......the core/spine of the team needs refreshing. No point getting weepy about it.

Long overdue really. Its still a shame to see players like Zab struggling but he's been a total pro throughout, no Summer dramas or agent antics; and I have nothing but great memories of him.

Zabaleta can leave with his head held high, Demichelis too to a much lesser extent. Yaya will go under a bit of cloud, not as much as his own form but the pronouncements from his agent. Caballero had one great day at Wembley. Fernando has had some good moments but not enough and he is both too specialised and not comfortable enough on the ball for Pep. Mangala appears to be up for grabs, largely I would say due to his deficiencies as a footballing defender, though he is a better defender then he is given credit for. Bony simply doesn't fit in at City. Kolarov is done at City, his performance at Southampton was a giant sulk, careless, lazy and complacent.

That is 8 senior pros very likely to leave!

Kolarov has played much the same as at Southampton for around 90% of the last 3 or 4 seasons. Most of the sensible fans on here know this.
However the worry to me is that he still keeps being selected so clearly the Manager & training staff just do not get it.
WHY ?

I'd change that remark about Zab before you get slaughtered on here,I don't know how old you are but you will have never seen such a commited player to this club like he has been,on and off the field, his legacy could never be tarnished, and am sure plenty will agree
Couldnt agree more. Even though it appears his legs have gone, his desire remains and he's one player i could never imagine going out there and mailing it in. He might not be as good as he was but its not throuhg lack of effort. This guys legacy is intact.

We need to say goodbye to Kolarov, Yaya, either Otamendi or Mangala, Delph (pointless signing sorry), Navas (important player this season but we need better) and Bony.

Players who can still have a place as squad players (if they want to) are Zab, Silva, and Nasri.

Sadly, there is probably only a couple of players from our first title winning season that I would say are genuinely untouchable now. Hart and Aguero, maybe Clichy just because he's homegrown and Kolarov is far far worse than him. Silva or Nasri could leave or they could stay, but neither would be a huge loss it seems. Zaba is done, Kolarov is a twat, Yaya is both done and a twat. Kompany will probably stay, but his injuries are getting to the point where bringing him in and out of the team is almost more of a disruption than it's worth. Sad times

I'd keep hold of Mangala and give Otamendi the boot personally. They both have their pros and cons but the gnome goes to ground like a 13 year old and is a total liability, pretty shit in the air as well, at least that's what I see. Opinions differ.
AND I get where you're coming from but I'd keep Fernando, does a decent job in the "right" system (which is kinda your point I guess).
The rest I agree with 100%, in some cases it's a shame, in others it's a pity it's taken so long. The only reason why I wouldn't add Delph to that list (just yet) is because of his passport, but if we could get around that (promote youth (?)) I'd have him out as well.

We'll be doing a "BIG SHOP" this summer.

It's a toss up between Mangala and Otamendi but I get the impression Mangala is in more danger but I wouldn't be totally shocked if both left.

I don't think we play the right system for Fernando but I wouldn't be upset if he stayed.

Delph has shown no sign of being technically good enough for us but he'll probably get another season to see if Pep can make a footballer out of him. Doubt it though as he gives the ball away more than any other midfielder we have.

Interesting point about Mangala and Otamendi and I think you maybe right. Mangala looks so bad because he is dragged out to cover Kolarov so much - I'm not sure how good he is though and will trust the judgement of the new boss. Otamendi looked so much more comfortable playing against Real perhaps La Liga is perfect for his game? If he plays well tomorrow his stock will remain steady and I would sell as I agree he is a little too reckless and gets caught out so much in a higher tempo league like ours. I think he will replace Fernando and Delph because to me the one glaring weakness of our midfield is not one of our players apart from DeBruyne can pass more than 10 feet! Alonso in his pomp would be ideal.
