RVP would be quality, but you have to have a couple of reservations about his age/durability. That being said, anyone can get injured at any time I suppose.

Whatever improves us as a squad, bring it on. Soon, cos I'm bored out of my f**king mind.

I am goin to spring to the defence of Mancio on this one.

We may not have conceded many goals in the league because most teams didn't bother attacking us. They parked the bus and hoped to nick a goal. Most weren't good enough to do so and that's why we have a good defensive record in the premier league.

In europe however it was a different ball game. we were up against more clinical forwards and we also didn't dominate possession in midfield like we do in the league. Barry, Milner etc not quite so effective in this arena.

So as far as I am concerned get RVP if he wants to come and we offload a striker, but he is not the key. If Tevez and Edin want to stay we have a fearsome front 4 as it is.

To improve in europe we need a centre back who can play football. pique for example. Vince is great but he often hoofs it long and inacurately, while Joleon, well its just not his thing.

In midfield we do need someone a bit more cultured.

So if we signed Pique and Sneijder for example i think we'd be almost there as far as Europe is concerned.

Hart
Richards Kompany Pique Clichy
de Jong
Snejder Yaya Silva
Aguero Tevez

Agree with the sentiment but strongly disagree with the conclusion, but enough people have told you what a stupid idea buying Pique and Sneijder is so I won't bang on about it :p

Still wish we could prise Sahin away from Real but seems they have long term plans for him and with good reason.

Our defence won us the league. Two years in a row as the best defence is not a fluke. Even when we lost, we were never thumped and it was rare for us to concede more than one goal in a game. The defence has room for improvement but, as TH pointed out, lack of depth is the biggest issue, particularly at centre back. The other issue at CB is that VK & JL are a real partnership where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts and replicating that won't be easy: it's not just about adding another top quality CB.

I still insist the problem lies with Arsenal's training program and medical staff. Arsenal players are as brittle as glass, but Clichy and Nasri held up well as has Kolo and Adebayor over the past few years.

tolm what about the Javy Martinez quotes from the other day?
RVP a good player and would improve the squad but striker doesn't scream priority for us at the moment I'd think.
I agree with this, we scored more goals than anyone last season why do we need to buy a striker ?
You do know I'm not Mancini, don't you?
Martinez's quotes were nothing you would not expect.
If Barcelona are sniffing, we will forget it and move on.
normally yes but I think there are significant financial difficulties for all the Spanish clubs now. Money is also important and I think they will struggle to compete with us.

I really hope you are right on this. :-)
