Nope he had his chance. It was bad enough last season when we tried to sign him.

Rather have him than Hazard for example. Speed and more width is required imo and we will not get the best out of Dzeko until we do, who I believe we should without a doubt keep.

Hypothetically yes, but reality is that we don't have a chance unless he has been made available. I don't want another saga like last time.

I think sagas are off City's menu at the moment. However I think he maybe more interested as our profile has now been significantly raised, that combined with the fact he didn't play a lot of games last season (albeit some due to injury) maybe worth a cheeky bid ;)

I just don't think having 4 world class strikers will work. Unless someone is happy to just pick up their paycheck week in week out and not playing any football but the odd cup game. Someone will get unhappy and take to the media to vent out their frustration and bring unwanted negative attention to the team.

Just goin to defend myself on this one. People who are saying Pique is crap obviously have formed their opinions from a couple of dodgy games against Drogba, who lets be frank scares the hell out of most centre backs.

Lescott better than Gerard P. Maybe in the PL. But I did qualify my statement by selecting Pique for european games where Lescotts extremely poor distribution is not doing us any favours.

Guardiola started to bench him way before "couple of games" against Drogba.

Pique is very average in defense, solid up front for defender.

Scratch that it looks like we are linked to Marco Verratti potentially a very good signing.

a nice example of "let's link our player to a big team to drum up interest" blowing up in your face

Maybe but it is a target worth looking into. He is being converted to a deep lying playmaker, is meant to be similar in style to Andrea Pirlo, he is still young to be developed further and he was key to winning promotion for his club Pescara.

I think it will be quiet for a few weeks with a loads more speculation to come.

I think it'd be easy .. Tevez Aguero and rvp could play together (in my mind anyway). Balo will be suspended for 1/3 of the season , not to mention for being his 1st year healthy arsenal ran rvp into the ground and w the euros I wouldn't want to over work him in the beginning , gonna be some games missed due to injury. If they don't make it past the group in CL , it'll be a problem but they'd only have themselves to blame at that point .

How the hell are they getting him so cheap? He could be the best left-back in world football soon.

Please define extremely poor distribution. Presumably it has nothing to do with pass completion as JL's is 92.4% in UCL (87.5% in EPL) whereas GP's is 88.8% in UCL (86% in La Liga)? Or maybe you are just another one of the folks on here that doesn't really know what they are talking about?

Well said.

Lescott's distribution is often better than VC's too.

Slightly better overall in the league but worse in UCL. Probably because Vinnie tries to play more long passes. Lescott is not a wonderful passer of the ball but he doesn't attempt to do what he can't do (!), he keeps it short and simple, which is fine for a CB. If we want a CB to be spraying the ball out from the back then we need someone like T. Silva but he is only available for silly money it would seem.

Yes but 3 world class strikers (giving Mario the benefit of the doubt--he will get there soon enough) and a soon to be world class winger/forward (who tracks back) in Bale would be plenty.

Sell Dzeko and Tevez

Buy Bale and Falcao

Our strikers and attacking midfielders are settled for years.

i really hope we haven't given up all hope on thiago silva. if he was the only player we signed, i wouldn't be disappointed. it would be nice to get someone to play out on the wing as well, but silva by himself would really help the team.
