There tends to be an argument on here on whether we need wide players or not. Way we set up last year, width in the main depended on the ability of the full backs to get forward. It seems to me that if Kolorov is to actually leave then I see there may be room for Dani Alves with Zab acting as cover on the left with back up being provided for by Rekik. There is no doubt in my mind that Alves is a world class player and would IMO opinion take us to that next level.
Mancini has said he doesn't want to lose Kolorov but I can see the point being made by the player.
IMO it also seems to me that whereas we have mainly gone for what might losely be described as centre/attacking/defensive midfield players we do have players who naturally can play wide such as Silva, Nasri and Yaya. What we don't have is that deep lying playmaker, Pizarro was brought in on loan to do that task and in the short time he was with the club he did contribute and you could see that if we had had someone younger with maybe more potential and ability that would provide us with further options.
The problem for me is I don't really know of any players who actually fit that bill, I am not sure you could class De Rossi or Martinez in that role (if I am wrong someone will point that out to me). Not really sure whether Sahin fits that bill either or someone completely of radar such as Benega. Certainly De Rossi and or Martinez would fill the hole left by Kolo if indeed he is leaving.
Turning next to the strikers, without entering into the debate as to the merits of RVP it seems now, today, we have gone back to only releasing one of our strikers either Tevez or Dzeko whereas there were some suggestions on here that both might leave. I think it proved last season with Tevez being away you can't really go the whole season on three strikers we need four and no matter whether people would be upset to lose Guidetti that might just be the price we have to pay to attain the next level. IMO it would be better to replace Dzeko and Tevez slowly one in and one out, losing both this season could be one step to far in as much as partnerships up front need to be worked on and given the fact we are only a few weeks aweay from the start of the season IMO it would be folly to lose both.
It seems AC will take one or the other but not both, sensible given they have sold one striker and defender their priority maybe to replace like for like. I am not ITK and the above only constitutes some guesswork and piecing together bits of information gleemed of this site.
For those who are not enjoying this transfer window they need to go and stick their heads in a bucket of cold water and calm down. The window only officially opened on 1st July and with the Olympics and Euros interspersed with holidays for players etc and the very nature of getting the best, these things will not happen overnight. If we were looking in the bargain basement of football I have no doubt we could have signed as many players as we would have wanted. To those posters who think otherwise I am sorry but I disagree with you.
