On a realistic note, it looks like all the lads from last season's squad want to stay and that wouldn't be a disaster. If Savic is sent out on loan to sharpen up and is replaced by Boyata we have room for another foreign trained signing, two if big Eirik is up to being the thrid keeper now that Taylor has gone. So two signings max, clearly no room for another striker, what are our priorities?
We do need a bit more width or a deep-lying playmaker, to break down teams who are just willing to defend. A CB who will keep our main two on their toes. I am happy we are keeping our current strikers even though RvP would of been a great option to have.
I agree with everything you say except the last bit!

Fair point on RvP. I can't wait to see the players who we are signing even though it appears to be frustrating at the moment.

A voice of reason at last. Three youngsters making up the five. Only thing I would say that IF we lose a striker that frees up another spot. I still haven't ruled out the possibility that we start next season with five strikers.

I am still convinced from earlier postings that Martinez is still on our radar given the fact Kolo wants to stay would be ideal as that all important reserve centre back when needed and added strength in midfield. I also think Mancini moaned about the lack of midfield players after Christmas that he couldn't rest Silva, maybe the 3 5 2 system is being tried out to accomodate that.

Just for example

......................................Hart

............Kolo..............Kompany...........Lescott

Richards............Yaya.....Barry........Nasri............Clichy

...........................Aguero........Tevez

So when we need to rest centre backs we revert back to last seasons formation when we need to rest a midfield player we revert to the above.

Hope he tries 3-5-2 in the Charity Shield.

I think you're spot on.
