Lavia is far, far, far from being anywhere near ready and I am skeptical he will have first team experience right away to even be considered an alternative. I’d say even if Fernandinho were to stay another year, we 100% will need someone.
Don’t think there is any chance of us signing a Rice calibre player though to only play 20% of the games and be well below Rodri for the big games.

It’s not a position we rotate like the front 3. If we do sign someone I can see it being a cheaper alternative from abroad who wants to take step up in their career and happy being 2nd fiddle

And Tim Vickery said he would be a better buy than Jesus
I remember that interview with Tim Vickery well.
He was seen as being at least as good as Jesus and there was very few to disagree with this as the time.
I always wonder if he had came to us as Jesus did and wasn't farmed around would if have been any different.
The same with Enes Unal who was scoring for fun when he was young but ended up spending as much time on the road as Alan Whicker.
Kayky has been brought in to us directly so will be interesting to see how this works out.

What I find interesting is the 'big named strikers in football Neymar, Mbappe, Messi, Haaland to name a few. All seem to want to avoid playing in the so called best league in the world, the premier league.

It cant just down to the British weather !.

It cant be the wages.

Ronaldo has come back and is finding the league alot tougher than he properly thought it was. The only world class striker is I guess Salah, but he isnt really an out and out striker.

Do these strikers want an easy life and not to prove themselves on a weekly basis ?
I mean when I saw Neymar, Mbappe and Messi at the Etihad, I forgot they were on the pitch, looked no where near as good of their hype.

The premier league can attract top players in every other position apart from the top strikers. Odd.
As it was pointed out Messi was willing to come but was blocked and we moved on.

Neymar went to PSG for a ridiculous world-record fee nobody was going to compete with.

I find it difficult to believe that as a pure football choice, a player would choose PSG and their league over arguably the best team in the world, managed by the best manager in the world, in the best league in the world.

Pretty sure Laporte agreed to join before changing his mind and then joining the following season.

Cant see where we’d fit a Jorginho in anyway. People were bugging this guy up for a ballon d’or and he’d only get minutes for us in the domestic cups.

If we don’t renew Fernandinho I’d prefer to see Lavia/Gundogan share that role behind Rodri

I take the point about Laporte, but I don't see the need or place for Jorginho in the team.

Sequence of Spanish media circus-

Real will sign Haaland
Real can't sign Haaland and Mbbape in the same window
Real will sign him in 2023
Barca got the money to sign him
Real out of the race w/ City having 80% chance of signing him
Barca half ruined can't sign him
Real can sign both Mbbape and Haaland
Poor lad must have quite a headache changing direction so often

heard some half ruined club trying to seduce him with their "PROJECT"
The club plays along as they’re so close to the media, and the media needs the clicks, to sell, be watched… why not keep it going until we can’t no more. The excuse is always ready: “we couldn’t compete”

A player that wants to be a second fiddle will not last long in Pep's City side, unless you are GK all outfield players need 100% commitment to give their best in training or they will get benched.
