The books would only be an issue if we have zero budget for transfers.Ok this is pretty simple, if we sign a player for £X amount at some point we need to sell a player for £X amount to balance things. If all players start leaving on free’s that income is gone whilst players coming on free’s will want huge signing on fee’s. Therefore the books won’t balance, it’s simple math.
If every player left at the end of their initial contract for a free then our transfer budget would struggle. However we have a good record of keeping players long enough for their transfer fees to work out at a minimal amount per year.
A mix of sales and longer term stays keeps the overall budget in check.
