It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

According to what I see on Twitter, They gave away 49% of their licensing and Merchandising rights. As well as 25% of there TV rights

How does that actually work? How do you sell already expected income to make income, and who is it that's paying for what.

They have passed the rights to receive that money to whoever the buyer is (likely a bank or other financial investment institution) for a fixed fee. Because its sold upfront for cash, that will be for less than what they will have expected to actually receive. But barca saying they need the cash now (despite for lower value) than waiting for the income over the years.

In the profits they will recognise the 700m over the time of the actual rights so they’ll be worse off in their profits than if they hadn’t done this but they get a big cash injection now to do what they want.

Its either desperate or stupid or both.

Either way, a club like barca with a 700m cash injection tends to waste it pretty quickly. Expect that to go on the squad rather than on facilities or bringing down their debt.

Looks like Lewandowski and Kounde will be first in the door. Actually dont think Bernie goes anywhere

Its like a loan essentially. They are giving up more than what they are receiving now. The company paying for it over 10-20 years or whatever will make a shit load of money by the end of it.

its literally kicking the can down the road.

So for argument sake say Jesus does sign for Arsenal and Sterling ends up signing for Chelsea for around £100mill combined. We’ve already sold Torres, Banuzu & Porro, if De Jong we’re to sign for say Utd and that meant Barca went for Bernardo for £80 mill.

We would have generated £250mill in sales, spent £70mill on Haaland & Alvarez somewhere around £40mill each on Cucurella and Phillips and then have £100mill for Bellingham…..as much as we wouldn’t want to lose Bernardo, Sterling and Jesus, 2 of them have a year left, the squad would look more balanced for me. Would most people be unhappy with that come September?

Nope. Wouldn't be happy with that one bit.

It will be very challenging to replace Jesus, Sterling and Bernardo in one summer. Other clubs will also take advantage of the situation and we will have to pay very high sums. I would very much like to see Jesus stay, if Sterling leaves his competition on the right side will be mostly with Mahrez and there are enough games for him to play a lot of minutes. He is also so valued at City, I really do not understand his choice of Arsenal- there is no chance they will reach the top 4 next year. Bernardo will unfortunately not be able to be held by force, if he wants to leave and we get the right offer we will let him go. I think de Jong is a suitable replacement, maybe Bernardo is better but again, if he wants to leave it is better for us to take advantage of it to trade with Barca for De Jong. If Jesus and Sterling leave together we will have to bring in a replacement, and we are supposed to get at least 80 million for both them so we will have a suitable budget to bring in a replacement. The question is who? I think Nkunku will be perfect for us, if not then maybe Felix or Leao. A very challenging summer ahead of us

As far as waiting for next season for Bellingham, if we signed him this summer he would be considered Hg(association trained) when he turned 21 because he’s have spent 2 years with us and 1 with Brum, if we wait until next summer he takes a foreign spot in the squad

He takes a foreign spot this year too.

I am sure we did a similar deal with sky Sports years ago where they got a percentage of out growth.
