It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

So as it stands:

Incoming
  1. We are close to Cucurella to being done
  2. Phillips still a target but nothing concrete at present
Outgoing:
  1. Banzu - gone for £15m with a buyback clause
  2. Jesus very very likely(almost certain) - going to Arsenal for anywhere between 35m - 50m depending on what/who you believe
  3. Sterling - could well be going to Chelski for around £50m
  4. Bernardo - rumours that he could go to Barca - but nothing at all concrete at present. If we let him go for a cheap price to that lot after the way that league and clubhave behaved towards us we are proving we are a push over...needs to be priced at at least 80m-90m plus...he has 3 years left
  5. Zinchenko - be gutted to lose him but I could understand why for him.
For me if that happens even with the incomings of Haaland and Alvarez we are light.

I have no doubt that Haaland will be a success - but Alvarez is an unknown. The loss of Bernardo (if it were to happen) means we would need a creative wide player.

Despite his numbers, Mahrez is unpredictable and unreliable, Grealish was very average and there is no guarantee he improves (and to get close to Bernardo, Sterling and Jesus he needs to improve hugely)

People will point to Palmer - yes he looks a huge talent but he is a kid and its a big ask.

I cant for the life of me think that if Bernardo and the others go who we could go for despite what TH has said about having 200m and that we will go big....

Neymar - not a chance Id have him anywhere near this team ---- I think he is a bad egg ad would upset the dressing room dynamics. I dont think he works hard enough (anywhere near) for a pep team.

Felix - TH has said its not him as this was linked to Bernardo going to Athletico and he doesnt want to do that.

Vinicisus Jnr - cannt see him wanting out of Madrid

Salah - not a chance the scousers would sell him to us- they would rather lose him on a free to a madrid/barca next year

FDJ - completely different to Bernardo Silva - pretty sure IF he goes anywhere he goes to the rags and He is not a replacement

I cannot think of anyone it is.

Losing Bernardo would leave a huge hole in the squad

With orthodox fullbacks could see pep return to that formation we used when we beat Liverpool 5 nil. With Alvarez and Haaland as a two up top instead of Aguero and Jesus. Alvarez playing a muller role

Depends on how we plan to play though, for a start it isn’t that many teams we play against where pace is needed. Secondly Haaland Foden and KDB are pretty quick for teams we can break against. Don’t know about Alvarez. Then if we play overlapping full backs there is a bit of speed there too.
Pep will find solutions to lack of pace on the wings. We could see more of the FB's like Cancelo and Cucurella starting off high and wide with the winger coming narrow using the FB's pace to get in behind.

Also this season KDB was primarily central because of no out and out striker in the middle. I see Pep finding ways to find him space like making those underlapping runs to the byline and putting in a cross like a few years ago.

He can link up with the right winger like Mahrez where he's sitting on the right of the 18 yard box to put in one of his crosses of uncertainty. That cross to the far post which is almost unstoppable. It goes over the head of the 2 CB's who are running toward their own goal. Haaland in the middle with the left winger playing narrow to the far post.

Although he looks a talent, it’s a huge step up not only to travel to England and live in a different country, but also to perform straight away in the premier league? I imagine his first season will be about adapting to England, pep etc
The lad is mustard. He might surprise a few.
