It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Good!

The Express.

Manchester City chiefs have issued a warning to Arsenal and Chelsea over their pursuits of Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling respectively by indicating that any sale this summer will be on their own terms - dispelling any rumours of potential bargain deals.

This is no way a stronger squad. Palmer has been injured for half a season and played a handful of games. He's not ready to replace two full internationals like Sterling or Jesus.

If both go, we're in serious danger of leaving ourselves undercooked again. The squad needs dynamism. Sterling and Jesus are arguably our two best pressers, and they have the ability to run on the outside of defenders. Having two inverted options on the right just doesn't cut it. Look at Villa on the final day of the season, it needed width.

Youth players might be talented, but they've also got to be ready, a Doyle or McAtee are not ready to plug the gap left by established internationals. It's totally unrealistic.

We also need depth. It's going to be the most physically demanding season yet. Five subs means everyone can play. It's not a time to rock a small squad.
We can't have £50m backups for backups. We already have 4/5 players for wide positions. Foden, grealish, mahrez, palmer, alvarez and silva.
What makes you think callum doyle isn't ready? Because we haven't paid £50m for him? Because he isn't a full England international at 19? He bossed the championship and was a front runner for player of the season. He would be 4th choice. Stones rcb, laporte lcb & dias can play both.

We havent got a small squad, and when we buy a D.M and a left back we are over our maximum squad size.
Shhhh we need more expensive backups for the backups and just incase backups for them aswell. We need 5 cbs, 6 wingers, 5 midfielders and youth players will never be ready as they aren't full internationals.

Fair enough that’s your view
Look at his stats goals/assists ...incredible incredible (see what I did there :) )
Look at the vital goals he scored he almost won us the league on his own one year
I remember the goal at home against Southampton....class
I remember the work rate and the fact he hasn’t caused any trouble
I remember the numerous times he scored the crucial first goal to break down defensive teams
I remember a player that is rarely injured or rarely hides despite all the abuse he gets
Some from even his so called own fans
If he wants to go I will wish him well and remember a City legend

You can add Villa to that list, we were dead. That first goal was all Sterling, the header was the easy bit.

Yep great. Also loved his voiceovers on short nature documentaries and the Matt Berry Does… series that have sadly vanished from the iPlayer, though they still live on YouTube
Written by Bob Mortimer. The one about ghosts is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.

we should double whammy Leeds for Phillips and Raphinha! It seems they would take £60m for Raphinha including add ons
