It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

bellingham is great near the opposition box but his work in the middle leaves a lot to be desired. he has to learn to control games from the middle and added to that his defensive game needs serious work. will be atleast a 2 year project to get the best out of him.
But imagine a coach like Pep teaching him...

I am not allowed to express my opinion? This whole forum is about city fans expressing their opinions, yet when someone says something you don't agree with you get are pissy, same with that kun guy. It's peak York awayism. Not being able to accept the club in on another level that it used to be and being willing to settle for mediocrity
Nope I picked you up for slagging the club off for not picking Fernandez up when he was “dirt cheap”. I asked you to point to your post saying we should sign him when he was “dirt cheap”. You couldn’t do so. You came back at me so I advised you that you were being wise after the event. I also advised you that we already picked up one of Argentina’s World Cup winning players “dirt cheap”. That’s what I said; am I not allowed to express my fucking opinion?

Sweet mother of Jesus. And would you have spouted such rubbish before we were linked to Maddison? No, you wouldn't have done. There's not a single poster on this forum that would have advocated signing James fucking Maddison before today. That you've just said he's better than all those aforementioned players, especially kev, is an insult. He isn't fit to lace any of their laces, even in their worst form.

It would be Phillips all over again. Isn't good enough for us, simple as that.

When does your pro licence run out ?

Ederson
Walker Stones Ruben NewLB
Rodri
KDB NewLCM
Foden Haaland Grealish

Ortega
Lewis Akanji Ake Gomes
Phillips
Perone Gundo
Mahrez Alvarez Palmer

Ah, so lose 3 and gain 2. Lewis, Gomes, Perrone and Palmer have a handful of appearances for the first team between them. Not entirely sure that's a great shout

I get it, you don't like him.

Pep does, and he's not doing a bad job of this managing lark.

There are very few people like Kev, so we need to temper our expectations on a like-for-like.
Anyone who has watched City knows we don’t replace like for like, we change and evolve
We didn’t replace Yaya, David, Leroy or Sergio with clones or lesser versions

Really? I wouldnt
More Arsenal than United in fairness.

Yes I think he's a top player. Not perfect but no one is.

I think he'd improve both squads significantly. I don't think he'd be an upgrade per se for us, but we'll struggle to upgrade on Bernardo in all honesty - Enzo, Bellingham, Caicedo etc none are as good as Bernardo right now. Frenkie de Jong is probably the closest on the market but doesn't seem to have any desire to live in Manchester.

Don't waste your time knocking at an empty house

I think Maddison is one of a few English players that’s actually underrated. Since the start of the 21/22 season (18 months ago) he has 41 G&A in all comps. He’s been a one man attack for a long time in a truly terrible side. Vardy is finished, Barnes is decent tbf, but constantly injured and Albrighton/Ayoze Perez wouldn’t get into our EDS. Putting up those kind of numbers with that level of players surrounding him is remarkable. Just imagine what he could do with actual football players around him.

We’ll have to prepare ourselves for the fact that any attacking midfielder we’ll bring in in the future will be a step down from KDB. Maddison would still be a very very good signing. With 12 months left on his contract in the summer he could be a steal
Maddison is easier to stand out in a shit team when everything goes trough you and you are a counter attacking side. I can bet you some of our acdemy lads can control the football better than james fuuuukin maddison. He will be a fish out of water in our team

Whilst any player needs to have a certain minimum level of quality it`s all about adaptability. So going out and spunking hundreds of millions on the best players available isn`t necessarily the best fix. We need players that will suit or can adapt to our style.
In Pep I trust.

And I replied saying that had I made the post if would have made no difference as I am sure the board aren't here reading the posts. Yes you are but for some reason you decide to start swearing and making a otherwise civil discussion uncivil. Our opinions are different and that is all there is too it, no point in continuing it. I wish you a pleasant day.

The only thing that would worry me a little about Pep suddenly focusing so much on english talent is that it is eerily similar to Wenger's career, how he after innovativing the game in this country with his foreign ideas then started to prioritise young british talent and then ended up 2nd best the rest of his career (or 4th best if you want to be precise)

People said this about Grealish. Turns out that everyone who was creaming themselves back when we signed him bought into the hype a little too much.

He's a good player but he's never realistically going to be the same level as Kev, David, Gundo, Bernardo, Yaya etc and rightly or wrongly, that's the level our fans have gotten used to. Those are players befitting of a club wanting to be the best in the world.

I can only speak for myself but it's got nothing to do with nationality, it just seems a step down from the peaks of aging players rather than a top up of the standard I expect.
Doing okay recently in fact he's keeping our very own superstar Foden out of the team.

Players need time, Grealish now playing a lot better.

Really?

I just don't see anything in him other than a decent, upper midtable player.
That's just where we differ. I think he's only held back by the quality of his team mates.
It's possible he's not able to hack it at our level but he certainly seems good enough to me.

Fucking hell you take offence that I pointed out you were being wise after the event about Fernandez, you take offence I pointed out we got Alvarez dirt cheap, and you take offence that I swore. Sorry dear but I think you’re in the wrong place

So any player that shows decent enough skills and promise when younger is now called a 'generational player?'
