It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

So are we building up the cash reserves to sign De Ligt and Neymar ?
Id like to think so. But more realistically, I think the Ake and Sterling to Chelsea thing reeks of them using our lot as stalking horses whilst they tie up other players.

As for the `one more player sale` before going back for Cucurella, I can see that meaning us finalising something like Lavia, or Egan-Riley. Neither appears quite done to me.

When reputable journalists at reputable outlets start reporting fees, you can believe it. But these days the smaller fish seem happy to make things up completely.

See that knob at the Yorkshire Evening Post insisting that we're paying 55m for Phillips. Even Romano keeps saying 50m. Whereas literally everyone else is saying 42+3.
With Gyabi going the other way so really its £40m

Sorry way too direct a link there to take you seriously. If you said you know a friend of the cousin of his agent you may get some traction:-)
I am So sorry about all the, to the point straight talking. I appreciate this is not the normal way things are done here….
If you check my history I am more partial to long rambling posts on complicated legal issues…

If we really want to speculate.. FFP usually goes in 3 year cycles.. you can pass something off over the next 3 years to still come in under a certain point.

Covid fucked with everyone's revenues and next year will be the 3rd year if covid was 1st year. Maybe they're shuffling it up so the math does make sense and the fact that everyone else is doing it might make it more conjecture than speculation.
Like I say people are flapping because we are selling academy players, making 2+2=5
Rodri + signing Phillips mean Latvia won't get game time here
Ortega was probably opportunistic & meant we could sell Bazunu & loan Steffen while signing Carson for another year.
Jesus & Raz entering the last year of their contracts, which we probably didn't want to sell but also didn't want to end up like Arsenal under Wenger..

All though the package quoted on twitter by rags & dipper is bull, its still going to be a hefty chunk of our budget & I would be suprised if the money men would of agreed to it had they gone anywhere near going close to breaking ffp especially after last time

What’s not to get? 2/3 players want to leave. We are doing fantastic business this season. The club is run with finance in mind and rightly so. Pep is happy or they would not be leaving.

The squad will be balanced if the in and outs happen. Maybe another winger or cb will arrive. We are selling players who are finally bringing in decent fees. Ake for Curcurella is smart business. The lad maybe wants to start and let’s be honest he is not getting in ahead of stones, Dias and Laporte.
This 100% - things like this happen especially in World Cup years. Sterling, Jesus and Ake need to play more and we as a club don't want unhappy players hanging around. People read too much into it, it's not as if we are selling Rodri, Kev or Dias! For me this off season has been damn near perfect, get Curcurella in as you suggest and I would say we are a better balanced squad than last year, with a very young base. I also think Palmer, Mbete & McAtee will be more than capable of spot starts.

Happy days and to raise possibly near 200m from selling fringe and academy players is an amazing achievement.

I would honestly prefer if the window closed in a week or so. Barca getting cash injections and signing players. Won't be long before Bernardo Silva rumors start really going. And we will probably have to endure weeks of it.

We only really need a LB, so we have done our business early. Most of the remaining transfer window will be about rumors of players leaving. And their possible replacements.
