It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

listen, not to be rude, but people here also need to know to take things on the full balance and evaluate scenarios on their own. when a number of journalists from both germany and england said there was a release clause, and tolmie said they weren't, my opinion was that there was probably a release clause that tolmie didn't know about. and that's fine, that doesn't make tolmie a liar.

you just gotta make the calculations in your head and figure out the truth based on the data. i will continue believing tolmie is a fairly reliable source.

The Harry Kane transfer saga proved that ANY top player that does not have a release clause is a fool, regardless if they have any sort of intention of leaving their present club.

Release clauses give them leverage to possibly get a move or improve their current terms.

They also protect the club itself, relax and enjoy watching Haaland.

RC in 3 years. So what we thinking, Pep extends for 2, Haaland wants to review situation at that point? As long as a big wedge, don’t really care

People need to understand that the RC was not in any way put there because he has an intention of leaving. Raiola used to do this constantly and asked any club who wanted to sign him to put it. In fact, the use it most likely will have is to get an improved contract rather than to facilitate an exit

Checked on here yesterday to see if there was any update on transfer targets, everyone flapping about the release clause.
Come back on 12 hours later, everyone still flapping about the release clause.

The lads not even kicked a ball for us yet and people are worrying about what's happening 3 or 4 years down the line. As much as I love this forum for the ITK updates, post match debate and occasional decent craic, there are times where I worry there are some seriously poorly people on here. (Also acknowledging that there will be 13 year old kids on here as well)

Can we just move the fuck on from the pathetic inferiority complex and flapping that Haaland is already thinking about his next move, he's much more likely to be absolutely buzzing to finally pull on the blue shirt and start banging goals in for our beloved club and hasn't even considered what's gonna happen in the future yet. Have we learnt nothing from the fact that 2 of our very greatest Aguero and Silva stayed for a decade? What makes people thing Erling won't do the same.

P.s @tolmie's hairdoo ignore the muppets man, without you, this forum just wouldn't be what it is. Simple as that.

Without a release clause, if he didn't settle and pushed for a move we would let him have it anyway. At least a release clause protects us from the uncertainty of that position. Anyway, he will settle and come to love the club and challenge Kun as all time goal scorer.

I think all top players will have a release clause in the future so they don't get imprisoned by dishonourable chairmen like Levy.

Besides, I can't see any downside to this. Worst case scenario, we get the world's most sought after striker for relative peanuts, a couple of years' service and quadruple our money. You'd have to be mad not to do it.

A huge buyout fee also eliminates any possibility of those silly stories that united or liverpool are in the mix to poach him from us.

Mason Mount joining City would really piss on Chelsea fans. Would take a huge chunk of money to sign him though. We were linked in Autumn and again recently but I think once Chelsea get the ok to negotiate contracts again, I think he signs for them. Not sure we really need him right now but he would be right up there as the type of player we would be interested in.
Mount is overhyped by the London media (no surprise). Not seen many links to him and we don't need him.

For anyone flapping about this potential release clause and commitment to city…he’d have a release clause in there if he’d joined Madrid, it’s nothing personal.

Only thing I’d say is that €150m (if true) is too low. He’s worth that already, wait til he’s got 3 prems, a champions league and the best part of 100 city goals under his belt

Honestly think City feel comfortable as they'd back themselves to keep any player. Sane is the only player of note who has left that we wanted to retain.

Most outlets are pushing in excess of 150m so it could be significantly higher. I'm hoping one year in City get him to agree to better terms with a higher release clause.

Maybe I'm just incredibly impatient but I don't think we'll be signing a player who is going to piss everyone off.

I mean, it's us and we can't sign a single player without pissing everyone off but I don't know if people are wasting their time trying to think of which massively controversial signing we're going to make because I'm not sure one is coming.

In reality, I think people will be pissed off because we've already added one of the best goalscorers on the planet and we'll continue strengthening our squad. That will lead to the usual "but what about FFP?" and "City are killing football" comments.

I'd love for it to be true that we're going in for a sort after, well loved and expensive player but rival supporters get in a right tizz every time we sneeze during a transfer window anyway.

Fingers crossed mate. IF he were to leave in 3 years it should be for a world record fee

Reckon he’ll be around much longer though, who thought we’d be seeing 7 (soon to be 9) years of Pep

Honestly mate, the does anyone give a shit. We've just signed the hottest property in football. I'm sure it's just an ego thing for most.
