It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

It is wrong on chances created per minute.

Maybe you think Steffan is a better keeper than Ederson as he conceded fewer goals last season?

We can’t ascertain whether he has better stamina, it’s just a hunch at the moment.

Zinchenko is undoubtedly a far better progressive passer than Cucurella and 99% of other left backs.
By the same token, If Steffen conceded fewer goals per 90 would that make him a better keeper?? No - part of consistency is playing well over lots of games.

Agreed Zinchenko is a fantastic progressive passer and possession keeper but i would expect those elements of Cucurella’s game to skyrocket at City.

Yes, at the very least can people stop being stupid when comparing players?

Stop using total minutes when one player played 3x the league minutes, do people not realize how misleading this is?

I've already mentioned this in the Zinchenko performance thread, he is an ABSOLUTE JUGGERNAUT in our attack as a leftback. Basically Trent level, but where Trent is more direct and it's translates directly into assists, Zinchenko plays left back as if he's David Silva and is very influential in the pre assist.

Everyone should go to fbref and look at GCA/90 for our club (I posted this in zinny thread) and you'll have way more appreciation and realization for what he does hopefully.

I still want Cucurella as he will play left back in a slightly more defensive manner and is slightly quicker, but he is a worse passer and less intelligent on the ball than Zinchenko (only because Zinny iq on the ball is super high)
But you also have to untick the box which hides players who haven't played many minutes.

Per 90 is definitely more valid than per season, but players will often have impressive spells over a short period, so the more minutes they've played IS important.

Playing most matches also means you're playing the best teams. Last season Zinchenko played 56 minutes of football against other top six sides. Against the teams in 7th and 8th, he played 180 minutes, and we conceded 5 goals.

Maybe nothing to do with him, but it does mean that when he played last season, we conceding 1.9 goals per 90 minutes against top eight sides. Now, is that because he was playing in already weakened sides? Ultimately it could just be a quirk, but indicates that sample size does matter when you're looking at per 90 figures.

That’s a nonsensical argument really. We aren’t buying Cucurella to play the same amount of games as he did last season.

He isn’t a better offensive fullback than Zinchenko. Anyone with a pair of eyes can see that.

What he is, is a natural left back, better at defending than Zinchenko.

A bit worried about our depth in the squad if Zin leaves. It's a bit small with all the competitions next season including the world cup

This strategy of strengthening all your rivals whilst having a thinner squad than last season can get in the bin.

Madness.
You may be surprised when you seem they play week in week out with teams of far less quality than ours and coached by people with less ability than Pep.

Don't underestimate the ability to motivate and Coach that Pep has, he makes good players look great, all the great managers have/had that ability.

Look at the players that left Arsenal and the rags when Venger and the piss can were in their prime, looked quality players at those clubs but when they moved they looked what they actually were, average.
