It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

What a fucking stupid comment. Who do you think would win a poll in this forum between Sterling and Jesus on who people would rather see stay? Must all be Brazilians
Also, in the random period you chose, there was an international break, he started one UCL match, two FA Cup matches, came in early in second half in a few, and there was also the Palace game which Pep made no subs in (neither him nor Sterling were used…). I don’t see what’s so extraordinary, players have moments of up and down. Jesus started the two UCL semifinal games ffs

You can try as hard as you like, but there is no getting around 4 1/2 months without a league start.

That's not a player Pep trusts.

With Haaland and Alvarez joining, Gabby is probably....5th choice striker and 3rd choice RW at best.

Again, this is complete delusion. 2 good games against Norwich and Watford isn't success.

Jesus was not injured at all between New Years Day and the Liverpool match in mid-April, a spell of 4 1/2 months where he did not start a single league game.

I have loved and stood up for Jesus for 5 years now and wish he was staying but Peps selection choices don’t lie, he’s the clubs 3rd choice RW at best, and his replacement has already been signed.

Even if Sterling were to leave this summer, Jesus would likely spend 95% of next season behind Mahrez, Alvarez, Palmer if the reports about how high Pep rates him are true and maybe even Bernardo if we sign 2 new midfielders.
This must be the most unbelievable post from you I have ever read. “Pep’s selection choices don’t lie”, exactly— Jesus started both games against Real Madrid. Sterling was on the bench for both. If you wanna play that game

There are no words to describe your thesis that Jesus would be behind Palmer and Alvarez next season, so I’m out or this discussion. It can’t move forward if this is where it starts. You can say “I have loved Jesus for five years” all you want, it doesn’t make your ludicrous take more realistic

there is no getting around 4 1/2 months without a league start.

And get your math straight— unless this is a deliberate lie

I knew he was injured, didnt realise it was that long. Though he was back in training since March. He seems to have been back for a while.

Still stand by what I said for next season. It is admirable, but wishful thinking, imagining him breaking into the team and being capable of replacing established players. Would be delighted to he wrong.
I think you’ll be delighted next season in that case ;)

If that's true then it seem like Pep sees Cancelo almost exclusively as a LB now.

Either that or we are looking at Walker turning 32 in a couple of weeks.
I think that is also the case. Looks like we're going to see four arrivals this summer - Haaland, Alvarez, new RB, new CM. The outgoings will be a similar number - Mendy, Fernandinho and Jesus. The squad will be bolstered by the promotion of Palmer and probably McAtee.

Ederson
Steffen?
Carson

Walker
New RB
Zinchenko
Cancelo
Ake
Laporte
Dias
Stones

New CM (De Jong)
Rodri
De Bruyne
Foden
Gundogan
Bernardo

Alvarez
Haaland
Sterling
Grealish
Palmer
Mahrez

The following summer will probably see Gundogan leave for free (Bellingham?) and one of, if not both, of Mahrez and Sterling.

He has started some big games thanks to his relentless work rate and Sterling being out of form, hard to see Pep choosing that over a 50 goal a season striker next season though, isn't it?

Ok sorry. THREE and a half months, 99 days, 10 league matches without a start.

You know what, maybe you're right, it's acutally totally normal for important players to not start a game for over 1/4 of a league season without injuries.

Again, genuinely mindbending that anyone over 12 years old thinks Jesus hasn't been offered a contract and rejected it just like Sterling.

You don't let players in their mid-20s get down to 13 months left on a deal, whether you want to keep or sell them.
Why would we offer a new contract to anyone we wanted to sell?

Unless of course you’re Ewar Woowar who has done it numerous times with players they want to shift. Philip Jones bring the funniest to date
