I think you have to count the space vacated by Mendy as a space we want to fill. I wonder if City actually have one eye on the trial before making any decisions there. I think he needed replacing anyway before his issues, but just a thought.

Given we started the season with him in and with 21, I would agree. But it is also fair to say he wasn't in the squad all season, so we were effectively down to 20, even if it wasn by choice.

I'd be surprised if we consciously go into this season with 19 registered players. Time will tell.
