It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

If Zinchenko yet again decides to stay and fight (will it be the 3rd time now?) then he might just be my favourite City player ever. This guy has all the qualities you dream of in players that play for the club you love. I still feel it’s more likely he actually leaves this time, but I respect the fact he’s giving staying some serious thought yet again. He knows the score, he knows he’s not first choice, but I think deep down he knows he has what it takes to get in this side. I think he’s already a cult hero, but this would really cement that.

Blackburn isn't contradicting anyone. He is saying the deal is agreed with the club, and personal terms are in place. But, Zinchenko is open to staying, and City are happy with that, and they wouldn't have to replace him.

What is the key bit of information in there? the claim that City are unwilling to pay 50m or more for Cucurella. And that there are other options to replace Zinchenko, including with Zinchenko.

Anyone think the sales this summer are preparing us for a massive signing next summer. Bellingham isn’t cheap no matter how the liverpool press say. Dortmund want 130 million for him. With the sales we are doing, puts us in a very good position
Summats going on. After relatively low net spends over the last 2-3 seasons, & seemingly being ultra careful to only buy if we're selling (unless we're fuckin skint & no one's telling us), it's reasonable to speculate we're amassing funds for a big player purchase.

That's what's been on my mind for weeks now. I just sense something's big's afoot either this season or next.

I guess the conversation shouldn't be its a smaller squad because you're right it isn't and I like th look of it! But is 21 enough to be competitive at the highest levels of all comps?
Well it's not done us much harm in recent seasons so I'd say we're fine.

City wouldn't use Martin like that, nor would he or Jack Gaughan allow themselves to be.

I fail to see what leverage we seek to gain selling Zin BEFORE buying a replacement, anyhow?

More likely the story we have accepted Arsenal terms but Zin is suddenly digesting the options.

Pep would never push the lad out and we have the money to buy another left-back, regardless.

Fuck Arsenal's dirty Emirati-sponsored money, we have enough of our own ;)
Always found cockney's very vulgar with their money ;)

I see the introduction of 5 subs as being a huge opportunity for us to give Palmer, McAtee and Alvarez plenty of game time this season. How many times were we 2 or 3 up with 20 minutes left last season? I would love to see Pep bring them on and give them the opportunity.

Interesting - thanks for the response mate.

And I totally agree selling Zin before replacing him makes no sense - whether you look at it from a squad management or a negotiation perspective.

My preference would be we keep Zin and sign Cucurella/a proper LB.

Our fullbacks will be more important than ever next season, with Haaland up front and no natural wingers to cross into him.

I think its the unknown of Alvarez, Palmer and McAtee that makes certain people nervous. For me though, other than the LB slot that hopefully Cucurella fills, i think that squad is as good as anything we've ever had. Also gives players like Palmer and McAtee a genuine chance to play some meaningful minutes.
Don't think McAtee would have signed his new contract without some sort of assurances
