What's our plan here?

My (wild) guess: Gvardiol and Gomez in for 85m, Zinch and Ake out for 75m.

Gvardiol can play both at CB and LB, same as Ake then, but, apparently, with a much higher ceiling than Ake. If we sign Gvardiol we'll let Ake go.

Gomez's profil seems a bit similar to Zinch's: a versatile left footed player who can play at LB.

Problem is that Leipzig don't want to let Gvardiol move even for 70m...

If we had any intention of selling Ake we probably wouldnt have turned down Chelseas offer for him so I think its safe to say he will be staying. Its not like Real Madrid are gonna come in with a 45m bid any day now.

Ake will want to play, and if we get Gvardiol, Ake won't play many minutes before the WC... Ake will be our 5th choice CB and our 3rd choice LB...

75 m for Gvardiol is a bit too much, but if we sell Ake, then it might be good business (provided Gvardiol is such a big talent in the 1st place, don't know much about him).

If there is any truth at all in the claim that we have bid £67m (€80m), then the club already know there would be a buyer for Ake.

Chelsea are still struggling to sign a CB after Koulibaly... There were rumours they would come for Ake again.

It might be an academic point if Leipzig refuse to negotiate about Gvardiol, though.

Plenty of time yet, obviously we’d want all business done by now, and maybe it is, but just can’t see City not signing at least a full back.
Hopefully an exciting few weeks ahead on and off the pitch.

If he's a player bought for Girona, then it will have no impact on what we intend to do regarding a LB.

I think we should buy Sosa & Grimaldo. We would get 2 LBs and their combined price is £40mil which is how much we were willing to pay for Cucurella.
