The only thing I can think of is that they don’t want to purchase a left back in case somehow #22 is cleared and they have no actual reason to terminate his contract and it’s extra money they’re still having to pay alongside a new left back. Maybe once thats all cleared up we’ll see

Spot on, he has over 200 goals and assists for us in less than 350 games

that’s almost 30 per season over 7 seasons

yes he can miss easy chances and he’s not the easiest on the eye but he should be considered a city great , not at the legend level but not too far off

He ain’t the answer neither though,cleared or not,piss poor,we need a new one whatever happens mate

No, I just think if a left back they wanted was available they'll get one, otherwise they'll use what we have as it hasn't caused us any problems doing that.

We have a real problem with some of our fanbase - you can add him to a list that has included Mahrez, Rodri, Gundogan, and now Grealish, among many others. Some posters get so fixated on a negative opinion of a player that they cannot let it go, even when it is obvious that the player is doing well, and seek any opportunity to criticise that player. Personally, I don't get it - we are top of the league, in the semi-final of the Champions' League and with a decade of unbroken success behind us. There is no team in football history that has a squad of players that are immediately successful and continue to deliver excellence in every single match because players are human beings.

To be honest I think Pep prefers one traditional full back and one with midfield atttacking capabilities. The only issue is we can only do that with a right back and the unothox on the left, we can't swap it over. So in that sense an orthodox left back option would be good, although Ake may be that option.

Oh yeah I agree I just mean we’d be stuck if we bought someone new then he’s cleared we still have to pay him and all that. It’ll be easier when a decision has been made by the courts
 
How many transfers do we actually need? A lot of people seem to think that we need a squad which has two players for every position. I think that 20 players is enough baring in mind for a Premier League game the squad must consist of 20 players maximum. We can’t be leaving quality players out of a match day squad: we should have 20 players and if any get injured a youth player can fill in. Also, Pep has previously said that he prefers to work with smaller squads too. Right now, we have 19 players (not including Carson). Fernandinho will leave and be replaced, ideally by Tchouaméni. Álvarez will arrive bringing the total to 20. It looks like we will sign Haaland (or another top striker) and, to capacitate a world class striker, one of Jesus or Sterling will most likely leave. I have concerns with the left back position with Zinchenko being our only real option in that spot. We need a quick left-footed left back to replace Zinchenko and Cancelo/Aké can cover. We might also have to reassess the backup goalkeeper position too — I’d like to see Bazunu come in and get some minutes in domestic competitions.

We should be f grateful for every trophy that have been winning for our club over past decade.

Even if we didn't winning the big one in my lifetime. This decade alone already fill my satisfaction and joy, full of memory that can last for the rest of my life.

Nothing can last forever, even our club will not be immune for that. But before that time comes, i will celebrate every single thropy like it will be the last time we will able to win it.

So all this talk and slagging for every player that perform badly recently makes me sad, barring the obvius one that should not be mentioned. I think we atleast at minimun should be grateful for their contribution to makes this city team dominate over the past few years.
 
The difficulty with the LB position is the shortage of quality. Who out there is a good option that would be attainable?
