It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Cancelo apparently is a shit defender, even tho his main role is overloading midfield and help with creativity, ppl still blame him and Laporte who has the highest passing accuracy in the team with a total of 94.9% !.

Hes not a shit defender hes just not a great one. Stats can be misleading, how many of those tackles & interceptions are in the opponents half

I think sometimes when people criticise a City player for not doing certain things, it's from a viewpoint that isn't really relevant for City.

For instance, Rodri used to get criticised for not being progressive enough with his passing (even though he did it more than any DM in the league at that time) and for passing backwards and sideways too much. But they never bothered to ask why he'd do it or think why it may have been a good thing he did that.

Ederson is another. Apparently he's not a great shot stopper. But there he is on your list with 20 clean sheets. That must mean he's doing something right!

You get it with Grealish, we've had it with Gundogan, Jesus, and Zinchenko over the years a lot. Old-school "traditional" qualities aren't necessarily the best way to judge a City player these days.

He's got the most total tackles out of any City player in the defending, midfield, and attacking thirds. He's got nearly double the amount of interceptions as the 2nd highest player.

Pretty nailed on tbh. But for us as an elite team the 0.1% or 1% of what a player does is what makes or breaks league titles. If there is any team / players that gets judged on fine margins its us.

Lodi is going to Newcastle on the cheap?

I might actually listen more when he talks about Atletico as it’s just broke that Lodi is heading there haha. Yea Newcastle apparently offering 18 million.

Decent business by Newcastle that, surprised others won't match that? Paqueta might be joining as well.

It's certainly interesting. Could just be them being sensible though if anything develops.
Indeed! Although if we exclude the resent report by Mike there were basically 6 different journos saying we were very interested. Adding Sam Lee today, and now this... Hopefully this goes in the right direction. The fee quoted tho sounds so low if it's not a "hidden" clause, a la Grealish.

I think by Brightons latests thoughts there is still a chance he stays. I linked it before. I doubt any deal other than Haaland and Alvarez are "done"
He’ll force the move to play under Pep, especially given the Barca link, however as @BrazilianBlue (Gus) alluded the other day, he’d do the same to us if Barcelona came a knocking

Well hes worth the fee and prospect. If he goes, even with Barca having Alonso and Alba, we'd get most money back anyways. Its a good money nonetheless if true

Don’t disagree, it’s not even a margin call, however we want long term stability in this position, it’s been neglected and if this deal comes to fruition, it should come with a minimum 5 year attached!
