It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

I don't see any change in how we're doing things to previous seasons where we've won so much. We're not stubborn, Pep's happy with our options and feels we have enough cover, and who are we not to trust him. Cancelo is a defensive liability at times, and he's a rotten egg in the squad at the moment so we're right to get rid. He's not been playing much recently anyway so what's the issue? Ake, Laporte, Gomez or if we get desperate we recall Wilson-Esbrand or play Lewis/Walker. There are solutions. We've won so much in the past 5 years and we've only had a proper LB for part of that time. Otherwise we've seen Delph, Zinchenko, Cancelo all be switched to LB and do a job.

Whilst we're all calling out for a "proper" LB, it's not harmed us having a team without one. Even this season we've beaten Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea twice in the cups and whilst the league campaign is mixed that's more on Arsenal's form than ours, we're not a million miles off where we need to be. Unbeaten in our CL campaign, and lost three games all season, one of which was an absolute robbery from officials and the other was due to Cancelo being a liability and us having a goal ruled out despite the ref being quite happy with letting things play on.
We could cope without proper full backs but at times we could be very predictable especially with no proper wingers it's going to be most grealish and mahrez always cutting inside and games watching recently grealish has been very isolated at times with nobody able to overlap him the best thing about cancelo was he was unpredictable he could cross with both feet you couldn't tell what he was going to do right now it's very predictable most things we are doing

Maddison contract situation means we could get him for a low fee in the summer. Would bring goals and creativity from midfield. A midfield of Bellingham and Maddison would be amazing.

Yea, when Pep talks about Maddison he glows same as when he talks about Grealish. Given Maddison multiple Pep talks after we've played Leicester

He would give us more incision than Bernie and dovetail nicely with Foden as a KDB successor.

Doesn't have the workrate of Bernie, but that's what Bellingham is for.

We haven't been the same since Dave left, and need someone alongside Kev who can see the pass.

Not long left on his deal and a steal for £50m.

I don’t think Maddison would be the worst rotation option in the world. Gaughan was saying that Foden will be used centrally if we are successful in signing Rafael Leao, so assuming it’s Bellingham AND Maddison, we’d have Rodri, Bellingham, KDB, Foden, Maddison, Phillips (maybe, maybe not) for midfield. That’s fine, imo. It’s not like we’d be building the team around Maddison.

Leao, Bellingham, Maddison and a full back in?

Bernardo, Gundogan and probably one of the centre backs (Laporte?) out.
