nah have a look at this guy Dominik Szoboszlai. he plays exactly like KDB. need players of this level not fukin maddison.

Dominik is great shout but Wirtz has that electric pace/aggression with a final pass that belies his age (and often executed at pace a La Kevin). Got to say I disagree with those saying Maddison isn’t good enough, one of the most constantly inventive players in the premier league and adept in small spaces.

I've never understood these analogies. There's probably a Maddison in every La Liga, Serie A and Bundesliga team. He's a good player, nothing special at all. Suggesting he is anywhere close to KDB or Bernardo is delusional. Getting him in place of Bellingham will make me feel sick. The squad is in transition and needs injections of world class quality; Maddison doesn't fit this bill, he's average.

We can do better for fucks sake. I said the same about Phillips and I'll maintain this view on Maddison.

I think you’re overlooking the fact that any player coming into our squad has to be exceptional because of the generally high standard of the squad. Most would look world class in any other team including Jack - who IS a world class player & has already proved his worth in the games he’s played for us so far

No you aren't paid millions for it and the people that are have delivered title winning squads for 4 of the last 5 years so think they have earned the trust of those of us that don't know so much.

I am beyond grateful for what the club had done.

However I do not agree with them that Grealish, Phillips and Maddison will deliver success, especially the Champions League, even with Pep.

exactly this. but the names are mediocre english players not even the top prospects in the world who the club of our stature should be aiming for.

I have no big problems with us signing either of Chilwell or Maddison if its at a decent price and offers depth to our squad. I just dont get exited about squad players we possibly could sign in the summer when its january, this window is still open and we have 3 trophies to compete for before whatever summer signing we imagine will arrive.

I understand some on here not liking maddison but pep seems to. i understand the signing. Hes not too expensive, creative. I also think its part of the pre planning. Think it will be bellingham and maddison plus foden moving into midfield from next season as to not be over reliant on kev.

i think then we also sign a winger.

i think its a big rebuild summer and doing it all in one go so then we can gradually add as we need again.

he can be a squad player who plays about 10 games a season but should never be the first team level we aim for. unless we want to go back to mediocrity.

There are very few people like Kev, so we need to temper our expectations on a like-for-like.

Unless they are South American players or non British players.. he doesn't rate them

Maddison is injury prone. If he was any good then other clubs would be after him.

We have scouts all around the different leagues, you're telling me after extensive searching, James Maddison was the answer?

Like I said, it was the same on here in the summer with being told Pep and Txiki know everything and Phillips will be an astute signing...

Wasn’t hard to see Phillips and grealish were hardly gonna set the world alight at city Maddison will be the same. All fairly decent but not city level.

Like with the lb search last summer and the Kane saga before that. The club have become very lazy/complacentin their recruitment imo. It hasn’t been good enough in the last few years and the squad isn’t anywhere near as strong as it was a few seasons ago.
