It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

What would genuine mean? I think it's a good situation. Chelsea are looking at midfielders and a striker. Or two. Big money on that this summer, surely means £100m for another defender would appear to be some sort of insanity. Even if they do go for another defender, then it might make Reece James or Chilwell worried. Or, downstream, their young fullbacks. Meanwhile, Real have Alaba - almost an identical player. Bayern, even without Pavard, have Cancelo & Davis + Hernandez, Upamecano, De ligt. Mazroui and Blind and others to back them up. Big big names and wages, would have thought any more defenders would have to be under £50m. PSG are unlikely IMHO. Why not us?

Anywhere! He'd be really good for us. Also, Barca might still be tempted to lose his wage with his contract still being expensive + Utd are sniffing around again, so us throwing around suggestions of extremely large figures is a great game to play (Sanchez, Fred, etc etc). £150m for De Jong! £500k p/w. Heard it hear first. Same thing as Chelsea and Gvardiol. If he really does look like going there, we need to make sure it bankrupts them.

Oh I want Gvardiol here mate but I was just wondering if there is actually any known genuine interest or any of our decent sources mentioned him coming here?

Chilwell in terms of pure ability would solve our LB issue. Given the options in the market, there are few LBs better and even less that will actually move.

The massive risk is his injuries and I think the club would need to tread carefully with this.

I've seen Chelsea fans completely dismissive of the links and staunch that they wouldn't entertain it, but they will absolutely need to sell players in the summer or risk failing FFP. Chilwell is their best LB and lights ahead of Cucurella, but they just spent £60m on the latter, have a good talent in Hall breaking through and have another excellent propsect in Maasten doing well at Burnley.

I think, given the unknown nature of whether he'll ever get back to his best, that they could be tempted to shift him this summer. But it won't be cheap - fully expect to pay something in the realm of what they bought Cucurella for - and again, that's a huge risk with the injuries.

Chilwell at his best would be an asset to City though. A very well rounded player.

Did you not see the game a couple of years ago where Mahrez ripped him a new one! Chilwell is no more the answer to our left back problems than Wayne Bridge was….

Flip me I forgot about de Jong. What a player! Him and Bellingham in, Bernie out (sadly) then just Leao or Napoli kid and a left back then were sorted!
