It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

They will have an owner eventually think the deadline was put back to end of may.

But they will never have anyone like abramovich the same as we will never have anyone like mansour? Any new owner is not going to spend like Chelsea did in the past and may even want to bring cash in to offset their purchase price?

Isn’t the fee for the club that high because they have to have money to invest in the squad in the deal?

From what I saw it was the purchase for the club (around £2bn) and then another guaranteed £1bn funding for the future?

Not sure the two are comparable, Mansour is pretty much hands off now, compared to Abamovich and leaves the running of the club to professionals. So while Chelsea will find it difficult to replace Abrahmovich’s money and control if Mansour were ever to sell there is no reason it couldn’t be to somebody that leaves our structure and finances pretty much in place.

Stadium redevelopment

Was that the £1bn but I saw mate? Either way, huge money on top of the purchase price and wages of players etc? Roman has written off around £1.5bn in loans as well so it shows how much Chelsea basically lost a year? No new owner or owners does that imo going forward

Anything they quote as 'for transfers' will just be PR.

4b has been quoted with a reserve of 1.5b put away for future transfers
Sorry, a bit confused here. How can they put money away for transfers? I thought player purchases had to be from revenue as per FFP. Does the initial investment count as revenue then?

Can't believe this is being done again. The amount of players we have signed (even before Pep) that haven't 'hit the ground running' but have gone on to be stars of the team and fans can't show patience.
This time next season, he will be playing centrally, after learning our style out on the wing. Pep obviously didn't even think it was a gamble - happy to go with him on this one.

The accent though.....

Agreed.

I can think of Cancelo, Bernardo and Mahrez just off the top of my head, who were all bobbins in their first season.

Jack is class and will show it next season.

No idea all I read was Abramovich is aiming for a total of £2.5bn to be donated to charity, while an additional £1.5bn is invested in Chelsea so maybe the 1.5b is for like a new stadium and players.

Yes mate I get that. Just don’t understand how a club could just put some initial investment money aside for players when it surely depends on revenue? Perhaps one our finance experts can clarify?

This sounds as if the owner is being punished ( quite rightly) but actually, the club are going to benefit if it is the new owners that have to donate some of the purchase fee to charity.
Chelsea should not be allowed to have their debt wiped out. The club should be made to repay it over time - to local charities. They have bought loads of expensive players with Abramovich’s cash & unlike other clubs, they get off scot free
